budm, I can't trust Altium anymore. Why are they offering "free" Cloud-based software?
Altium Designer increased in price to $10,700 June 2014. Before, CEO Gerry Gaffney had mentioned… “Despite the rosy numbers, Gaffney said Altium has no intention of jacking the price of Altium Designer back up to the old level. Though the company may make "tactical tweaks" to pricing, the "price range that we are in is probably where we'll stay," Gaffney said.
They are such a mess of a company and their product is turning into OrCAD in the 90's - massive price increases and a zillion features added that are disjointed and buggy. CadSoft Eagle PCB seems to be really popular for DIY.

Our companies have been using Altium (PROTEL) for a long long time, I use them since 1995, it is not cheap but interface well with Solidworks and AGILE system. I am on ALTIUM DESIGNER 13 right now.

comercial design and "cloud" do not go together - your designs arent your designs anymore!

+1 for Eaglecad, specially as there are win, Lin and OSX versions.

-1000 for Eagle, it's horrible software with an awkward user interface and odd tendancies.

-100,000 for Mentor Graphics EDA... Oh god, who chose that?! The managers running the company must have got something in the back pocket for that...

gEDA/Kicad for FOSS
Altium/Cadence for commercial work.
