Covering SMD LEDs with bluetac

So I bought a Dell E-port, and the LEDs are annoying as hell (who needs a fluorescent blue eject button?)

Got it open now and intend to cover the LEDs with bluetac.

They're just small SMD leds but will doing this insulation cause them to overheat/short out?

Not unless they are so overdriven they would burn out anyway. Use a removable covering so you can change your mind.
