"Current is measured by inserting a measuring device into the circuit to measure the flowing current. Voltage is typically measured in a circuit in parallel. Why isn't the current calculated from the voltage?"
Why doesn't any manufacturer create a multimeter that measures current in the same way as voltage?

My friend in early days are measuring current of mains socket... it was just a nice analog multimeter...Last edited by harp; 02-29-2024, 03:09 PM.Comment

Current is defined as the rate of electrons going through a point, so you have to get in between to know what's going on.
Technically if you know the voltage across two points and the resistance, you can compute current. The problem is that the resistance between the nodes tends to be unknown and may even change. Without it known and stable, there's no way to know current through two points (plus it may "leak" to another node).
Best you can do is using a clamp meter if you can't split the node.Comment

I'm looking for a extreme high current short killer solution for a reasonable cost.
I have an LGA1700 motherboard (ASUS PRIME Z790-P WiFi) where I exchanged the LGA socket already 3 times, and every time after the socket exchange I get a short of power supply lines VCORE (V variable) and VCCIN_AUX (1.8V).
After taking off the socket, the shorts dissappear again.
The soldermask on the socket is already partially demaged from the heat, so I have reconstructed the soldermask by manually painting the missing soldermask parts with a very small top of a...10-15-2024, 10:13 AM -
by quicknameI'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.
Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.
I decided to verify that the batteries were... -
The bq24745 bq24745RHDR bq24745RHDT is a high-efficiency, synchronous battery charger with an integrated input-current comparator, offering low component count for space-constrained, multi-chemistry battery-charging applications. The input-current, charge-current, and charge-voltage DACs allow very high regulation accuracies that can be easily programmed by the system power-management microcontroller using the SMBus interface. The bq24745 charges two, three, or four series Li+ cells, and is available in a 28-pin, 5-mm x 5 mm QFN package.
The bq24745 features dynamic power management...-

by sam_sam_samI have been pondering this question for a while but now I have see if this doable but I need to answer this question once and for all
I would like to know how to safely do this undertaking my first thought is to solder wires to the main filtering capacitors and see
what voltage I am getting and seeing if I can build a battery pack with voltage or not and if
I can find a BMS balancing protection board at this voltage level and weather or not do I have use more than one BMS balancing protection board... - Loading...
