capacitor uf measurement question

i am currently checking my tv powerboard which is dead,i have just measured a capacitor with my esr60 meter.the cap value is 820uf -100 wv(m) but the cap is showing 497.1 uf with esr showing 0.14ohms.is the uf rating way too low.

ps i desoldered the cap from the board when i measured it.

yes that's way low, id change it

i usually work on plus or minus 20% myself regarding uf.

I personally use a stricter tolerance range and if it isn't a quality Japanese cap, I'll generally replace it anyway and save the original for "testing" purposes.

true expecially as cpc are offering no minimum order ans free postage still you cant got wrong using pansonics imo.

Keep in mind that a cap designed to work at the mains frequency (50 or 60 Hz) will not test correctly at 100KHz. Your meter uses a 100KHz test frequency. Have you confirmed that similar capacitors show the correct value on this tester?

Most are tested at 120 Hz, 20KHz.
