Would you mind help me to learn?

    Good day everyone

Since I am on this great forum not a long time, I have many pdf file on my harddisk that I makes from this forum (from budm, tom66, retiredcaps, etc that I couldn't say one by one), You all inspired me to be a TV technician!!. All about troubleshooting PSU, TV, and computer display. I takes many time try to see youtube and this forum thread to learn how to troubleshoot a TV (LCD, plasma, led) problems.

Yeah, I am hobbyist, not technician that everyday could see the TV problem in front of on their eyes (this is interesting for me). I am very very very curious want to learn how to fix a TV and computer display, I have learn a bit about how to troubleshoot power supply, but I didn't really know how good about my skill on troubleshoot main board, T con board, inverter on TV because I am just reading it and never practice it on the real problem.

I have see the budm photobucket (warehouse of knowledge), several tom66 youtube guide and his great site offers service manual for some tv, retiredcaps guide and the others.
I am not a rich man that has a rich parents, so if I want to get a course (maybe I am still capable buy a book about troubleshooting) maybe I have to work 1~2 years before to get a money (on my town course if expensive I think and not every technician want to teach you)

Sorry if I have a bunch of question (please don't bother to read)
where should the first I have to learn troubleshoot TV and computer display? Are you all have course before to be a technician?
what book that you read, suggest? would you mind give me the site that could makes me a capable techinician like as a free ebook site or basic skills require to troubleshooting TV? Yes I have read a basic troubleshooting from budm site on fixya site, but I want to learn specific with image included (because I don't have a TV in front of me)

Pardon me if my question bad. I think to buy several broken TV to learn but is this worth it? I am just afraid what if the TV I bought ever repaired by the others technician and already mess up.

I've posted some of these links in the past for TV repair info:

    http://electronicsrepairtips.weebly....ics-books.html

http://www.tvrepairinfo.com/ <--- Dave Maltz is the site owner, and he also has a Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/GrantsPa...?feature=watch

    Norcal715 on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/norcal715

There are lots of other good sites online.

It can be a gamble sometimes, as TV's can have unrepairable issues. I personally bought more plasmas than LCD TVs, since the panels seem to have a lower failure rate.

I have download all of dave lcd tv repair made easy. hehehe. So some TV have unrepairable issues? is that because components didn't available? I have read some thread that T-con (timing control board) hard to repair is true?

Ebay is great enough? my parents TV is flat CRT so I am considering to buy some LCD or Plasma TV for cheap if I could repair it to give for my family.

Repairfaq (lack of picture) and jestine young site is great because full of picture. I have several ebook from jestine young about troubleshooting smps and test electronic equipment. I have think to invest buy the lcd repair ebook from jestine young, any one ever read it and good?

I learned by buying or getting free used/broken computer lcd monitors. If you can get them cheap, say $5 or less, you will learn how a SMPS works.

Almost everything runs on a SMPS today so if you can learn and more importantly, make mistakes on the free or cheap electronics, your success rate at repairing lcd TVs and plamsa are much better.

For example, a SMPS in an unloved 15 inch lcd monitor, because everyone wants bigger, operates exactly the same as one in a new shiny 22 inch LED monitor.

Fixing computer lcd monitors is a good primer for lcd TVs as they basically operate the same. Plasmas, in addition to the SMPS, have all sorts of sustain boards and repairing them can be difficult.

Personally, I have never worked on and never will work on a CRT TV. Too big, too heavy and relatively too dangerous.

BTW, you mentioned budm and tom66. They were not members when I first joined badcaps.net back in 2010. For me, I learned most of what I know by reading PlainBill's posts. You can learn a lot from his posts as well.
        --- begin sig file ---

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

I have learn a bit SMPS from ATX PSU and repair it and several weeks ago from CRT TV. Maybe this could makes me more easy to troubleshooting TV PSU.

Forgive my ignorance I don't really see the details joined date. Yeah I know PlainBill is well technician, but I couldn't see much reply or guide from him, I guess because he is already retired from his signature. Like I said, I couldn't say one by one you all. Trust me, I am very believe PlainBill is good person and knowledgeable person, especially you learn much to test voltage regulator from him. I have to try search his thread

what do you mean by sustain boards on plasma? what makes it hard to repair?

Maybe my question is too much and makes you all bother. please be patient with me.

Oh, I have read but you know I don't have any experience, I just know main board, Power board (PSU), and T-con that connected via LVDS cable on LCD, I am more concern on LCD because more cheaper and easier to buy it on my town. Looks like I have to learn more on different site with picture about plasma.

After makes a bunch of question above, maybe this is very confusing. forget all question above. I have to dig myself question about board, connector, etc. So i just wanna ask one question that I am more concern about this.

What books that you read to learn troubleshoot TV and computer display that includes pictures (from basic and newbie side)?

Looking to learn about troubleshooting my Lenovo L14 Gen 1

                Hello!

Unfortunately my Lenovo L14 Gen 1 (motherboard NM-C741) was involved in a terrible mishap. At first, one of my friends accidentally spilled coffee on it which made some of the ports stop working but the computer worked fine otherwise. After that I stupidly opended it and forgot to disconnect the battery... One thing leads to another and I accidentally short it between two components (unfortunately I do not remember which components). After that I get nothing, no charging indication, no boot indication, no fan spin, nothing.

So I'd love to learn my mistakes and...

As usual please guys go easy on me 🥶, I have this mentioned laptop that was once working but with display problem, my friend took it to an inexperienced technician (like me 🤒) and they got it completely dead, now he has brought it back to me and gave me for spare parts. Although I am not an experienced technician, initial troubleshooting suggests that the pc has the sign of life as it hasn't been shorted anywhere (visual inspection) nothing is heating up and all the voltages prior to the main power rails are available (according to the schematic) it is just some area where it seems the voltages...

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.

                Hello from France,
mon2 kindly advised me to post a thread to ask the question(s) I'm concerned about. I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...
Do you think this is feasible for me? I...

                Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
