    MOSFET 2SK3018 advice

I am hoping someone will be able to advise me on this mosfet. I am trouble shooting a circuit on a Panasonic plasma psu - thread here, and have noticed that i have a constant resistance of about 57ohm between the Gate and Source pins on this little fet, (Q422). I have followed the traces on both the pcb and the schematic, and have determined that the resistance is within the fet itself.

Here is a link to the data sheet for the Mosfet, it's the SOT-323 package.

    http://www.sztuofeng.com/pdf/2SK3018.pdf

I know nothing about mosfets, but i have noticed that this is the only one i have come across in the circuit where i am getting a constant resistance reading between the gate and source.

Is this a normal reading?, or could i have a problem with this fet?

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S, I used a multimeter for the resistance readings. The board was not powered.

if you inter change the probe of the meter is it the same reading if yes then is faulty

make sure to romove it from the ps before testing it

        Thank you for the replies.

Yes to both of them, whichever way round i have the probes, i still get a 57ohm resistance. I also took your advice and removed the mosfet from the board (though i was certain there was not a path between them on the board). With the part removed from the board, i still get the 57ohm between Gate and Source.

So this fet is no good? Thank you again for the information, i feel i am making progress with the trouble shooting now.

It has built-in Gate-Source protection Diode which may be damaged.

Thank you budm, i have ordered a couple of replacements, luckily they are easily available. I ordered a couple in case of mishaps when fitting - never fitted one of those tiny SOT-323's before.

              Mosfet Advice
              by Green Probe
Hi, Im looking to replace some EMP21N03 mosfets on an Alienware motherboard, but I'm having trouble finding a legit supplier. The ones that are available from China have pictures with the engraved logo looking very scratchy and sketchy. Nobody in the US sells them. I'm trying to find a compatible mosfet, but I'm not well versed enough to be confident im making the right choice. Does anyone have a suggestion or advice that could help me find the right mosfet? Thanks!

How do you test MOSFET in laptops ?
              by Jane
I tried to use this method:

              Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the

              by Reintar
First of all, I'd like to mention that I'm a novice when it comes to laptop repair, although I do have some experience with soldering.
One day, my laptop experienced a severe stutter, and after rebooting, it failed to boot into Windows. I decided to disassemble it and found that the PL900 component was blown. Later, I came across a post (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...error%E2%80%99) with the same problem, where...

Help identifying mosfet on Razer Blade RZ09 (CH570_MB_NT)
              by redbaron1007
I have a Razer laptop (RZ09 MB# CH570_MB_NT) that has a shorted mosfet marked BND M03 E067 that I'm unable to find anywhere online. Does anyone either know what the part number is for this mosfet or have a schematic I can find it in?

Backstory on the whole thing the laptop was plugged into a lamp at a hotel. The lamp got unplugged while it was charging and now the system won't power on anymore. I found the caps around this mosfet shorted and when I injected voltage into the caps the mosfet got hot and my bench psu was pulling 5A. Pretty sure this is all that's wrong with the laptop...

Acer Aspire E5-574G - Not Powering On
              by novice1
              Laptop name Acer Aspire E5-574G. Processor = i7-6500u. GPU = NVIDIA GEFORCE 940M. Motherboard Model = DA0ZRWMB6G0

This laptop was not powering on at all so I started investigating. The blue light would come on for a second, and then disappear. Fan would sometimes turn on for a second and then shut off immediately, and at other times would not turn on at all.

To start with, about 3 months ago I had no clue about soldering, motherboard schematics, board view, and then I stumbled about this forum and other stuff online. I have never done any of those before. But to ask...
