I have this HTC EVO phone and appears to me that charging port is ripped out with traces. I have image of how it looks, so if someone has an idea how to solder back to make it work I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Re: HTC EVO charging port ripped out
Ouch... I thought only the Nokia N900 was the only phone that suffers this fate.
Usually there's not much can be done because the ripped out tracks are gone from the board and the only hope is that the track can be tapped from elsewhere. -

Plus it's only 5v RX TX Ground and 5th for shielding.
It's not hard to retap it somewhere just got to find the point of entry on the circuit.Last edited by Mad_Professor; 06-04-2013, 01:40 AM.Comment

Re: HTC EVO charging port ripped out
ohm it out with a DMM, but be careful of where you tap, make sure it's where the circuit begins for that trace.Comment

Re: HTC EVO charging port ripped out
If you see any trace left, you could scrape away the the PCB with a screwdriver to reveal the copper underneath. But I don't see anything on the surface on that photo.Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

by SluggerBI have two TCL A30 phones.
Old Phone: This phone worked fine for years, then stopped charging If you plugged a charger into it, the phone would make the charging sound, the phone would tell you it is charging, but the battery icon would not have the charging symbol in it and the battery would not charge.I tried new battery, same behavior.
New Phone: Works fine, bought as a donor board to try and repair Old Phone
My interest here is to repair Old Phone, using components parts off New Phone if needed. I am not interested in replacing Old Phone with New Phone.... -
by ScarfycakeHi all,
I sent my ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED (H7600, 12th Gen Intel) to the local repair guys to have a very simple DC in port replaced. I sourced the part myself on accessoires-asus (french company) after struggling to find the right part in the UK. It looked completely the same to the installed part from what I can tell. Originally the only issue with the laptop was a bad / loose DC connection, and so the computer and battery acted completely normal aside from a very poor connection that would fail at certain angles. After the repair was completed I brought it home and used it for...5 Photos -
by paparazzo79Hi guys.
I wanted to purchase HP Elite x2 1012 G2 laptop but I saw that the charging port is type C and I remember Mr.Sorin from electronicsrepair on yt telling that the worse charging port for laptops is type C and on other channels I saw that they mostly fail especially HP Spectre X360, so I assume I should avoid laptops with type C charging port (dunno why) or it just depends on model?
He mentioned that laptop fail because of that port, and simply become dead, and most of the models fail because of that port. -
