Characteristic Impedance of LC Filter
What is exactly the meaning of the Characteristic Impedance of the LC filter? I know the formula that is SQRT(L/C), but please tell me what does it mean?

Characteristic impedance is a term most often used to refer to a transmission line with distributed constants. Shape factor is a better term to describe the characteristics of a particular filter. An LC filter is made up of lumped constants. The resonant frequency in Hz of an LC filter is one on 2pi root LC.
As usual, nothing exists in space, so you often must define what your source and load impedances should be in order for your filter to work properly. Ideally the source and load would be resistive, so they don't interfere with the resonant frequency or the shape of the filter. Ideally, the source and load impedance would be infinite, in order to maximize the Q of the LC circuit.Is it plugged in?

Hi everyone.
Recently scored a dead amp from a mackie srm1801 subwoofer and after fixing it, now I'm thinking about a home cinema/party subwoofer project.
Most likely I will use a 15" JBL woofer, which I already have and a diy box.
After reading the mackie user manual, I noticed that it has a 40hz HPF (labeled as "36Hz BUTTERWORTH HPF" in the SM) to protect the speaker from low frequencies. Indeed this seems to be good idea for the intended usage - professional music subwoofer, but bad for movies, where one would expect to "feel" the SUBwoofer.... -
I have acquired a used Dick Smith Q-1760 power supply - although the OEM is Manson Industrial
It has at least one problem.
The voltage control potentiometer VR2, 50K is faulty - going high resistance / open circuit in the CCW end and leading to the output voltage jumping around.
I have already ordered a replacement potentiometer, so that's not an issue.
Now, I want to replace all three electrolytics on the PCB as they are CapXon and I don't trust them so much, I will replace them with something better while I've got the thing apart anyway.

Hi, this is more of a project help request than a troubleshooting question. I hope I can post it here.
I have a W-King D8 Bluetooth boom box which I'd like to modify with some external speaker output jacks and some buttons to switch the internal speakers on and off.
From factory the specs of the boom box are:
-Power Input: DC 5V
-Speaker Output Power: 2 x 25W ( confirmed by Youtube channel Hartdegen review as 12.5W RMS per channel)
-Drivers:
-2 x Woofer, 70mm, 10Ω, 70mm,15W
-2 X Tweeter, 8Ω, 30mm,10W x 2
-Frequency... -
Recently acquired one of those silly Logisys acrylic power supplies and lucked into getting one of the "better" ones (most of an input filter, bridge rectifier instead of 4 diode treatment, OK-sized heatsinks, etc.) and wanted to fill out what I can on the board + get some decent caps on there (especially the primary side since I highly doubt the ones in there are actually 1000uf). My questions are:
1. How do I know what components to install re: the input filter? It seem to be missing an X cap, a resistor, and a Y cap.
2. Where can I find a good heatsink for the bridge... -
