Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
things seem to be working......i am going to post pics of how i soldered wire from black lead of battery to underside of black wire on main board.

SUCESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
such a sweet word.............
THANKS THANKS THANKS................
my daughter thanks you as well...............
i think its working...............i did what you said........connected black wire from batter to main board.........i will post pic later............anyway, it plays a cd.........i still have to check other functions............i will let you know what i find..........but looks good thus far.Leave a comment:

ok.... i will give that a try..........Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
No - dont think that right - the switch in the socket switches the battery on when the
adapter is removed ( But the switch is not working). If you remove the socket and the switch then the battery will still not be switched on. I still think if you just solder a wire from black to black you will be okLeave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
ok i removed the socket and ...well......i would have thought that this would allow the batteries to do their job............i removed the socket, inserted all the batteries, flipped the switch and .......nothing.........still did not work..........Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
one last thing.........if i remove the socket.......then the batter should work right.....without having to bypass anything.......right?Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
If you mean to power straight from the battery - then no harm - I believe the circuitry on that half of the little board is mainly to help cut out ac that might get through from the adapter.Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
to bypass the socket just to see if it works is there any harm in taking the black and red wires to the main board?Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
Just in time - I am away now for a week - all depends on how you are going to use it.
If you will ever want to use the adapter then I would replace the socket.
If you just want to use on battery then bypass the socket all together.
If you take the socket off you may be able to correct the switch problem or replace it with a new one Whatever -you have nothing to lose by taking it off and trying.
However you may wish to do the bypass for now and if it all works on battery then look to doing something with the socket.Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
selldoor, just now getting back to this.........been busy with other things.......
anyway, i think your on to something..........just wondering if i should "desolder" the ac/dc plug or should i just run both black and red wires to the main board...........anythoughts..........or should i adjust the ac/dc plug so that its not always "on".........
thoughts?Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
selldoor,
you might be on to something. I added a wire from the "grn" side of the battery and shorted this wire to the black wire on the "main" board..........things kinda came to life. I just did a quick test to see if anything would happen and much to my surprise the cd player laser head moved and the lcd come on. Tomorrow i will try a more stringent test.......but i wanted to let you know.
i will update you again tomorrow.Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
The little one with the power socket on - I willl want you to get a short piece of wire and
connect the black lead from the battery to the black lead that goes to the big board
and possibly another piece to join the red lead from the battery to the red lead that goes to the big board. In effect cutting out that board all together. You dont need to solder
just hold in position and see if it comes on try the black to black first then the red to red.
Then if nothing both at the same time. I am just not sure if the switch is on the black side or the red side - that is why I wanted the picture.Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
selldoor, which board did you want me to take a picture of exactly?
also, to prove/disprove your idea what do you think i should try?Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
Ok - i think we are right back at the beginning. I cant quite make out all the traces on that little board - can you do a straight on picture of the right hand side.
I still think the problem is inside the barrel power connector there is a switch. When you plug in the power supply in it cuts off the battery supply. When you unplug the power supply it reconnects the battery supply - I think it is not working.Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
I really like the pics with the meter on them.........
I put the battery in the unit. I measured 0Volts between the two nodes as you showed in the pic.
I measured the resistance between the two nodes and ....well....it was hard to get a reading but it varied and it was around 120Kohms........kinda jumped all around. but i think this is what the avg value would be.Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
sorry forgot to mention that.....
for switch in the "off" position
ALL ZERO VOLTS
similarly, for he switch inthe "on" position
ALL ZERO VOLTS
i could not get any reading again, that is when i use the gnd on teh back of the board.Leave a comment:

And with the switch switched?Leave a comment:

Re: Dead Hello Kitty Karaoke Sanrio machine
ok......with volt meter on measuring DC voltages.
Black probe on the "Gnd" label on the back of the board.
Red probe on the numbered nodes 1,2,3,4,5 and 6.
ALL voltages measured 0Volts.Leave a comment:

by double_DDHi guys,
I have a dead coffee machine, and it seems that the culprit (no 1, at least) is a dead trafo - primary coil seems to be blown open (type shown on the picture below).
Now, I'm unable to find direct replacement anywhere on ebay or aliexpress, and all similar that I' was able to find are rated too low (<1A).
If someone knows a shop to buy replacement (EU/CH), that would of course be my 1st option.
My other ideas:
- to buy 220/20Vac trafo with 30VA, and to "manually" create secondary 12V output just via resistor
- to buy... -
by carrzkissHello, all.
Cyberpower Battery Backup Unit.
I bought two new ML18-12 batteries through Amazon (They have already refunded my money for the two batteries as we thought the batteries might have been bad.)
When I got them in, they were not fully charged. I connected them to the UPS and waited 24 hours before connecting any networking equipment.
In parallel, they read 24v, but within 24 hours, the meter on the front of the unit dropped from 4 to 3 bars on the battery charge indicator.
Checking the voltage, it was down to 22v.
I quickly removed everything... -

by ivtecHi good folks;hope you all had a great new year entrance;afamily member asked me to look at their wash machine Maytag MVWC465HW that is dead no leds turn on , i already took out main board but it's hard to troubleshoot due to the amount of wax covering all the board both sides, all fuses to the rectifier and filtering are good, tried to order it but no boards available and cost more than a new wash machine,so i'm trying to repair it at component level,i would appreciate if you could lid me the way any tip that will help me to fix the main board, there is no parts available for this mod# so it seems,power...

by CG2OK, this is a long shot. I got this sewing machine cheap because it's end of line, ex-display, and had no pedal. The genuine pedal costs £60, while Ebay knock-offs go for around £15. So I went for the knock-off, it doesn't work, and I'm not sure whether it's the pedal or the sewing machine that has the problem.
Now this is an electronic machine, unlike the old fashioned sort where the pedal was a big resistor in series with the power to the motor. Here, the pedal is just (I think) a variable resistor fed with a 5 volt supply, and limited to a current of 5 milliamps. Assuming that... - Loading...
