    black soot and replace with?

Dell e196fpf, took it apart after customer complain that it was cycling on/off non-stop. It does indeed do that.

But what I notice is that housing has black soot on the back of the panel and the cover, but the board is a bit dusty but nothing burn or soot.

I've never seen anything like that except for electrical arcing.

Anyways the board is plagued with su'scon and teapo.

    Five 47uf 16v Teapo SJ 12mm X 5mm 5mm holes
    Two 470uf 25v Teapo SJ 15mm X 10mm 5mm holes
    Two 220uf 25v Teapo SJ 11.5mm X 8mm 3.5mm holes
    One 1000uf 25v Su'scon SG 20mm X 12.5mm 5mm holes *Bulged
    One 680uf 16v Su'scon SG 16mm X 10mm 5mm holes
    Main 100uf 450v Su'scon unknown. 41mm X 20mm 8.5mm lead

What should they be replaced with?

Replace the 47uF caps with 47uF 25/35/50v (any will do as long as the diameter fits) Nichicon PW, HC, Panasonic FC, Rubycon ZLJ, United Chemicon LXZ etc

220uF , 1000uF 25v - replace with panasonic fm , fr, nichicon he, hd , ucc kze, kzh,

    680uF 16v I'd replace with 680uf 25v of the same series above

See what matches in diameter, what fits on the board.. the lead spacing is not that critical.
The main capacitor, the one 450v rated, doubt it's bad and it's usually not bad, not worth replacing it as it's unlikely it causes problems.

You know the stores, digikey, mouser, newark, rs-online..whatever you like.

I've seen something similar before. The monitor in question was installed on a print monitor PC which occasionally got toner on it. The toner settles around the high voltage bits like dust, but looks more like burn marks.

I cleaned it off and all was OK.

What turbozutek said. I've seen the same in PC's in a print room. I often wondered what the employees lungs looked like too. Don't breathe it in when you get it off there, printer toner is like asbestos brakepad dust, carcinogenic.

can the 470uf 25v be replaced with nichie HE series cap?

I also missed one, there's 50v 10uf Su'scon SG cap that can be replaced with pw right?

Well that makes sense, I wasn't told what it was used for, so I thought I would just ask.

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

KDM 480W PSU upgrade succes! (opinions?)
            by bauto601
Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
            by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
            Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...

Opinions/Advice on Do/Should I replace ALL Electrolytic Capacitors on old equipment?
            by RetroComputingGrotto
I've just been repairing some (very) old speakers with a loud hum that occurred as soon as you powered them on regardless if any actual audio is played through them. I work in a School so it's 99% likey that the Teachers have hardly ever turned the power off on them for well over 10+ years.

As you can see the top large capacitor on the right has a bulge on the top so defincately needs replacing. As the one next to it is exactly the same capacity and voltage I planned to replace them both.

What is your advice/opinion on whether or not on old(er)...

            Cougar BXM850
            by Rgyver2
Just picked up a working Cougar BXM850 PSU.
Noticed that the main input cap is a Teapo LS (420V 560uf).
appears to be a date stamp on the cap of 09/19 - so is likely to be a bit over 4 years old.
any recommendations for which cap to use to replace this LS cap?
Teapo LS spec sheet shows 1600 mA ripple (30x50mm) for this cap. last time i changed a main input cap i used a Rubycon MXK

i am still looking this over and dont see any other signs of concern. but if someone knows this PSU and has any other recommendations for components to replace, let me know. (secondary...
