    finding correct caps

Hi people. I have another bad PSU this time it seems like some of the caps are bad. It's a LG monitor.

I'm still learning so I need to ask a this.

There's 6 caps all near each other 4 are Suscon 16v 680uf 105 and 2 are Panasonic caps I think.

I'm still not sure if I need to find an exact replacement or not, obviously they have to be the correct v,uf, temp range but do I need to source exact replacements.

    The suscon are
    16v
    105c
    1000uf
    size 10w x 20h

    The Panasonic (if they are)
    16v
    105c
    1000uf
    size 10w x 20h
these have an (M) and also pet on the side which I beleave stands for polyester?.

I'm unsure about the 2 with pet on the side, is it super important or not.

    Hope someone can help.

    Re: finding correct caps

The Panasonic caps are definitely not polyester. Both the Suscon and the Panasonic parts are electrolytic caps. I'm guessing the "M" might be the Matsushita logo. Beyond that, we need to know the series of the parts. For example, "FC" and "FM" are common Panasonic series. Knowing this information is necessary to know certain critical characteristics so as to recommend similar parts. I'm not familiar with Suscon, except I'm pretty sure they are not respected here on BadCaps.

PET =Polyethylene terephthalate the substance the plastic coating is made out of.
Bit surprised if the panasonic caps are bad - can you do a picture.
I would replace all with panasonic FR FM and FC in that order best- less good. but you
need to get the physical size correct.

Thanks for the reply's, yes PET =Polyethylene yes that's the one. So there's nothing special about these really. I also notice someone mentioning suscon as being rubbish.

Here's some pictures hopefully they will help, the size of both are Hight 20mm Width 10mm

The first 2 pics front and back there are 4 of these
The 3-4 pic front and back there are 2 of these.

          Ok, so they're not Panasonic.

          They're

          * Su'Scon SG :

          * Samwha WB: (page 32, WB is discontinued... Samwha recommends to use MK series instead)

Replace with capacitors with >= ripple , <= impedance .. basically Panasonic FR, FM, FC like selldoor said would be good.

mariushm posted much of this, but "translating" ...

Su'scon: Probably the SG series; made in the 33rd week of 2008; M = +/-20% tolerance

Samwha: WB is probably the series; M = +/-20% tolerance; W8A is the date/lot code; PET does seem to mean polyester, possibly referring to the sleeve (major brands switched from PVC to polyester sleeves in their RoHS-compliant parts, so PVC may in some way be politically-environmentally incorrect)
