    Geting information about a bulb

I have some bulbs here from a christmass decoration, now this season has started again(feels just like it was yesterday)

    So my question is.
How can I find out it's Wattage Amperage and Volt, if it has no reading on it?
isint there some way to mesure it?

You can measure the resistance and make an estimate of the power which should let you apply the right voltage without burning it out.

If it's an incandescent bulb, measuring the resistance with a meter is useless.

The filament actually changes resistance when it heats up and glows, and is a lot higher when running than when cold.

I don't know if there is a formula you can use to calculate the normal resistance from the cold resistance (There very likely is)

But as it stands now, your resistance measurement will not give you accurate information about the bulb.

          Only by destructive testing.

There is but you'd have to know things like the material, the material's electrical properties, the diameter and the length.

Well I guess this is a lost case, damn it.

well thanks every one for your input.

What are you trying to do anyway?

Try it connected to a couple of AA's, then 4 etc. - gradually increase the voltage until it illuminates but at a level that is not too bright otherwise you will burn it out.

Re: Geting information about a bulb

What does the bulb look like? (photo?)
What power source does the decoration run from?
How many bulbs are in it and how are they connected (series, parallel etc)?

You might be able to find out more about the bulb by taking these things into account

Can you find the decoration for sale anywhere? Can you ask them if they sell spare bulbs? If so, perhaps they know the specifications.
