    Finding the right large capacitors

I need some 560uF 250V electrolytics to replace some that have failed in a plasma TV. I believe they must be low ESR as it is a secondary side. Although that being said the output current is probably less than 2A on this rail so maybe low ESR aren't required. The originals were Samyoung KMH. I *cannot* find anywhere in the UK that stocks them. The best I got were some Panasonic TS, not low-ESR, from Mouser, in the US. And I'm not really good on spending £12 on shipping from them when they only cost £3 each. (I need 3.) Badcaps.net store doesn't stock them either.

If I can't get these in the UK would it be possible to arrange to buy these off someone on this forum that could source them from DigiKey, minus the $30 international shipping charge?

    Tom,
I had a similar battle some years back with printer chips for Okidata 320 printers.

Got turned onto a vendor who for a price (not cheap) was able to sneek them out of Japan around Oki's regular shops.

I know for a fact there are people in Japan that sell home market stuff outside the country. A friend got an exotic video game board that way for a sumo wresteling arcade game.

He found that source on Ebay.

In the case of your caps, who in the UK is authorized factory service for your TV?

It can't be a unique part, who else makes a similar supply?

Keep at it, sooner or later you will catch a break.

Low-ESR caps are used afther high-frequency part of the switching power supply.
Are you sure that's the way it is? Looks strange.

Found another thread here where PCBONEZ i think said that chemicon is the same. So here are datasheets for those to easier find replacements.

I have contacted eBay sellers with no luck thus far.

The TV is a Thomson Wysius 42WM02L, a 42" plasma TV. It is essentially an LG inside. However a new power supply will set me back £100+.

Yes, these are on the secondary side. They filter the "Vs" bus, which runs at around 190V. There are some primary side capacitors that filter the mains, these are 220u/450V x 3 plus a 100u/450V for the standby supply.

Thanks for the link - didn't realise Samyoung were copying the series off Chemicon. Interesting, I may be able to source these easier.

I just happened to stumble across the comment from PCBONEZ over here
