    Replacing motor brushes

I've got a really old electric lawn mower that needs new brushes for the motor. I don't have the manual for it and it's no longer supported by the manufacturer, so I have no idea which part to get. Can I just use some generic brushes that are the same size, or is it important to match the hardness of the original?

    Re: Replacing motor brushes

The brush hardness will determine how long they last, so I would put whatever I could find if I can't find the originals. If they are softer , just have to replace more often, but if you have had it that long and just now needing brushes, you are doing good.
