I see these listed for as cheap as $40 all the way up to over $200. Does anyone have any experience with any of the discount units that actually work well?

Re: Any good discount electric desoldering pumps?
If you buy one make sure that you buy extra filters and tips you will need them
The only other thing that I will tell you the more flux you suck up into the gun the more than likely will clog the tube in the gun but if you happen to do take the tip off and use a 1/16 drill bit if the cleaning rod does not clear the tube
Here is one on eBay

MPJA electronic store sometimes they have but they have been out of stock for quite some time now but this has happened beforeLast edited by sam_sam_sam; 02-23-2021, 05:10 PM.Comment

Re: Any good discount electric desoldering pumps?
filters are a robbery, you can make your own better ones.
that said, thereare a number of threads here about "upgrades".
from changing the fan and it's power, to making filter discs, to adding an inline (fuel) filter as a backup/pump-saverComment

Re: Any good discount electric desoldering pumps?
Pretty much what the others say
I have this one which is same as / clone of Zongdi 915
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...archweb201603_
And it's just wonderful to use
I find a combination of hot air wand in the left hand and this desoldering tool in the right hand will work even on motherboards with heavy ground planes
One bit of advice - when you finish desoldering, push a cleaning needle through the tip several times before you switch it off. They are a bugger to clean out if you let solder solidify in the base of the tip!Last edited by dicky96; 02-27-2021, 09:47 AM.Follow me on YouTube

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -
by the_remHello guys,
I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.
I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow... - Loading...
