how to solder NEC TOKIN IC 0E907 ( conductive glue ???)

    Hello

I need to remplace NEC TOKIN 0E907 for acer laptop but i can t use the airflow gun because the nec tokin ic burnt. And for low temperature <220° the solder paste don't heat. it's low

I seen we can remplace it with 4 x 330uF smd but i want remplace it with original ic.

Can i use conductive glue (which product) or an other solution?

    Thx

you need a real reflow station - and then it can fail again.
    use the 330uf polymers.

sorry i ve an Digital Hot air Station and not airflow gun that i wrote.

I feel that the tokin was glued and not soldered because I can tear it off the motherboard

i tried with 330uf the laptop is good working but i want a clean working for client

      thx

well most laptops use the 330uf caps, the tokin caps are a failure and kill a lot of PS3's too.

That's an epoxy glue type (probably black color).
I always remove it by scratching and peeling it off. Then use a solvent to remove any smaller lefties.

seems the recommended repair is an upgrade .. i dont think the customer wants to look at that bit .

most repairs are an upgrade, because you dont want the blame for it failing again.
that's why we dont replace shit caps with more "chong-x" or whatever, but spend the extra on panasonic or use polymers.

a good repair is a repair you only do once!

                  Exactly!!!

Skip the NEC TOKIN caps and use something else - SMD polymers, tantalums, ceramics... whatever. just NOT those NEC TOKIN c[r]aps.

The customer will likely never look inside the unit and hence never complain, as long as the unit is working. And if they do, you can always tell them why you didn't use original replacements.

As stj mentioned, many PlayStation 3 consoles and also a few older Toshiba laptops were affected from these failing NEC TOKIN caps.

I've done dozens of these. Always 4x330uF on Toshiba. Only on Acer 6930G/8930G I do 4x 470uF or 6x 330uF because 4x330uF is not always stable.

The Real Dangers of conductive glue.
                      by mitsu2k
I know many folks on this forum warn against conductive glue and suggest removing it immediately upon site. I'm here to vouch and say these people know what they are talking about. To be more accurate, the glue isn't intended to be and doesn't actually start out conductive. It gets conductive as it is heated by components that get hot. The glue starts out to be a light tan color but as it is exposed to heat, it gets darker and darker until it is a dark brown. I have found that it becomes conductive at the point that it reaches a light brown color on darker.

                      Here is an experience I...

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
                      by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

NEC TOKIN 0E907 Fault in Toshiba L510 Laptop - Can I use any of these caps
                      by Chaks
                      Hi,
My old Toshiba L510 Laptop which was working fine with Ubuntu 22 Server till couple of days back. But suddenly I got a blank screen with fan spinning and no HDD activity. I tried all options and zeroed to a suspected/faulty NEC TOKIN.
So I removed the faulty NEC TOKIN 0E907 and want to know if I can use the capacitors I have salvaged from old Motherboard. These caps are from old Mackbook Pro Motherboard and I am not sure if any of these caps will work.
                      Can anyone please guide me....

Best way to solder LVDS connector for beginner (and qfn) ?
                      by corrize
Hello, I'm a beginner for micro soldering. Right now I have some difficult to solder a qfn 20, I guess I put too much solder on the thermal-ground pad, the result is a corner of chip wich don't touch the board (last try).

I use a wire solder with hot air, I tin the board and chip before with iron and I use good flux.

I will have to solder a LVDS connector (40 pins, laptop pc), I saw a solder paste in seringe, good quality (it does not scatter).

BGA solder balls not connecting - help pls
                      by petemanuk
So I though in my spare time I’d set myself up repairing motherboards mainly pin damaged lga1151 sockets types.

I’m using an achi ir sc pro rework station (gave up on my Achie ir6500 - don’t recommend)

I’ve managed to get my rework profile somewhere in the correct region (after a lot of trial and error) to get the old sockets off and reflow new ones back on again, the problems I’m getting is not all of the solder balls are re-attaching when re-flow occurs. I know this because when socket is removed pads still look clean and have no solder...
