Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
if it's originally from me, then it's direct from the site of the author.
anything over v18 is risky because they are in virtual containers that emulate a registered machine.

the letter(s) after the number can be ignored for now,
the next set of numbers relates to the size.Leave a comment:

The size is denoted in the markings on the flash/eeprom. Winbond W25Q32FVSIGLeave a comment:

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
Also I’m new to this eeprom thing, for future reference how would you know what size memory and whether it uses SPI or I2C when shopping for blank ones? Or is there one common type used in TVs that differs from a PC?Leave a comment:

given the bs i went through last week, they probably got stolen from a production line for DELL motherboards!Leave a comment:

Ah actually it finally detected one. After trying 4 from a strip of 10. So they must just be a junk batchLeave a comment:

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
And they’re connected right it doesn’t detect just shows all values as 0
And if I try to program it will sometimes complete but when verifying says “chip with the contents are in disagreement”
Btw how do you know if it’s a 24 or 25 series? I’m not too familiar with eepromsLast edited by caphair; 01-18-2018, 01:09 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
try flashrom
btw, are you sure they are connected right?
any 25 series should be detectable, even if it's not supported.Leave a comment:

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
Great thanks. What I’m confused about is when using an eeprom from a tv, it doesn’t give a detect option unless I use the 25 SPI BIOS slot, but this wouldn’t be for an eeprom correct?Last edited by caphair; 01-18-2018, 12:13 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
I just got one of these CH341A Programmers for TV eeproms.
Version I found is 1.13. Where can I get 1.18? Reading that it works well for people
Also does it have an auto detect feature? If not how do I figure out what type of eeprom it is to select in the program?Leave a comment:

Re: CH341a SPI / I²C programmer
The developer of the software is pretty nice. It was 10$ USD for me for the latest version, v1.31, with free upgrades he says. I had trouble tracking him down, even though his e-mail address is in the program. I didn't realize it was an e-mail address because the font was a little funky. It's SkyGz@QQ.com
Just tell him you're looking to purchase a copy of the CH341A Programmer. He'll ask some questions, send you an e-mail with the new version, have you tell him the Hardware ID, and then send you a registration code. For 10$, you can't really go wrong.
Although his website is in Simplified Chinese, he understands English very well.
Just thought you guys would like to know.Leave a comment:

If you need the registered version I can put you in contact with the author. He will probably sell you a license for $5 or so.Leave a comment:

by what_1282105Following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/co...g_and_flashing) i re-flashed my t480s BIOS using an external (CH341A) programmer. The flash didnt work, so i reverted back to my BIOS backup successfully. The BIOS in the chip and the BIOS backup file are identical according to windows' file compare. The revert, however, didnt work: the only thing the computer does is flash the power button 3 times when AC power is connected. I've tried unplugging the CMOS battery, holding the reset button and holding down the power button- no signs of life....

My pc updated bios through Windows Update and I was greeted with BLACK SCREEN WITH CPU FAN MAX SPEED. I don't think there is even a screen signal, because it triggers my monitor for a couple seconds and then the monitor turns off. I tried the other outputs as well.
- I tried clearing bios, resetting bios, removed the CMOS battery, removed m.2 ssd, wifi, and ram. Still black screen with CPU fan blasting.
- I tried using the Lenovo BIOS CD and BIOS USB, but neither worked. At least I couldn't get anything to work.
- I could only locate two chips that look like bios chips. Could someone verify this

I'm able to read and write the chip by selecting a winbond IC of the same size, but when verifying it fails at around 25 percent.
I've modded the ch341a to 3.3v.

by sasalliHi to all!

by fanchiottiHello everyone,
I have a lenovo ideapad s145-api and after a bad bios update, it's bricked.
I bought a ch341a programmer, installed all the drivers, it's working as expected, except when i put the clamp on the bios chip the power led goes dim and the win 10 emits the "device is disconnected" sound.
NeoProgrammer doesnt detect the chip at all...
The laptop battery is disconnected as is the bios battery.
I believe the bios chip is this one: https://www.winbond.com/hq/product/c...ory/serial-nor... - Loading...
