I'm looking to get an LCR meter so I can test ESR of capacitors. The UNI-T UT612 looks decent and the cheapest unit I have found that can test at 100 KHz. Given that most capacitor data sheets state the ESR at 100 KHz I thought I'd get a meter that can do 100 KHz. Any of you have an opinion on this unit? Ebay has it for around $150.
How good is the UNI-T UT612 LCR meter?

Re: How good is the UNI-T UT612 LCR meter?
You can find some reviews and comparisons to other multimeters on eevblog forum.
I'm too lazy to find the threads but here's a good starting point: https://www.google.com/search?q=ut61...GdLYfJOevVgdgM
The first results should have some information.
My opinion, it's a good lcr meter. I would say worth the money, but you can get some other lcd meters with about same specs a bit cheaper (closer to $100).

by chth96I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that
"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."
Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...-

by carrzkissHello, all.
Cyberpower Battery Backup Unit.
I bought two new ML18-12 batteries through Amazon (They have already refunded my money for the two batteries as we thought the batteries might have been bad.)
When I got them in, they were not fully charged. I connected them to the UPS and waited 24 hours before connecting any networking equipment.
In parallel, they read 24v, but within 24 hours, the meter on the front of the unit dropped from 4 to 3 bars on the battery charge indicator.
Checking the voltage, it was down to 22v.
I quickly removed everything... -
by bauto601Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps
The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish.... -
by quicknameI'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.
Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.
I decided to verify that the batteries were... -
