Re: Thoughts on Solomon SL-30CMC/Tenma 21-1590 Soldering Station?
Good point, I thought the Hakko 888D was like 20% higher in price. The Duratool's seems to have a lower max temperature at 450C compared to the one I mentioned in the original post. I wonder who the actual manufacturer is since I would think Solomon is the actual OEM and Tenma and Duratool just sells it under their own name. The only thing with the Hakko is it seems to be a two piece base excluding the iron vs just the iron and base. I actually have the Solomon referenced in the original post and noticed that the tips don't tin if the temp is set at 450C as the solder will just melt into a ball, it seems at lower temperatures, it will coat fine.

Re: Thoughts on Solomon SL-30CMC/Tenma 21-1590 Soldering Station?
the 888d is in a different class, that's why it's twice the price.
if you want to pay $100 or whatever it is, the hakko is much better.
as for your first question,
my led based one said Solomon on the box - said nothing on the equipment though.
my lcd version also says nothing on it, but it was sold as Duratool.
http://uk.farnell.com/duratool/d0067...-eu/dp/1498366
and that has now been replaced by this one!
http://uk.farnell.com/duratool/d0067...-eu/dp/1498365
all the same iron, just improvements to the base each time.
BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE HAKKO!!!
make sure you dont buy a clone hakko though.Leave a comment:

Thoughts on Solomon SL-30CMC/Tenma 21-1590 Soldering Station?
Does anyone have any experience with the Solomon SL-30CMC which seems identical in pictures other than color and specs as the Tenma 21-1590, are these any good as it's 48W but supposedly can do 480C/900F which I thought required more wattage?

by sam_sam_samI have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -

A few months ago,I have purchased 0.1mm Soldering Iron Tip of below aliexpress link,But I noticed that It is totally impossible to use this 0.1mm iron tip in the T12 soldering station
https://ko.aliexpress.com/item/4001275635593.html
Is there any good soldering station which is possible to use 900M-TJ-I tip and have inexpensive or reasonable price in aliexpress?
Any reply would be appreciated. -
by capriderHey,
I'm looking for some recommendations of a decent quality soldering station and a separate hot air station. I'm just a hobbyist, so even if (ultra)premium tools are not required, I still want some good tools. They should be available in Europe.
I now have a TS100 and some soldering irons and looking for some better tools.
1. Soldering station, budget around 200-240€
JBC BT-2BWA seems to be a good product in the budget.
2. Hot air station, budget around 200€
Up to now I've found ATTEN ST-862D to be a good option.... -
by mkbehbehI purchased this soldering station when it was on sale at amazon. It had a slew of one star reviews, but the price was low enough that even if the controller and PSU were toast, the handle tips and stand were worth more than the price. All of the reviews mentioned that the unit was either DOA, or died on the first use. I looked on Aliexpress and the first clue was that KSGER still sold the 220V version of this station, but all of the 110V versions had been discontinued. I figured That there was a problem with the 110V on the power suppply and the controller would be fine.

by Peter_1402Hi Everyone,
I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
1. Soldering iron works great
2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
From the above test, I can conclude... - Loading...
