    A digital scope is good if you do a lot of capturing of "single shot" signals (e.g. overshoot/undershoot or pulses that only occur once) or very slow signals (in Roll mode - e.g. the load on a power supply during startup) - it helped me troubleshoot an audio to infrared remote adaptor I was designing.

    If ROM devices of any type are socketed, I always dump the contents of them (and have fun with disassembly), considering the fact that they are increasing likely to become a piece of unobtainum.
    My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.
