    Re: oscilloscope repair HELP

    Welcome, mitchell2120!

What make and model is it?
Also, what is the problem you experiencing with it?
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Check the simple stuff first is the main fuse blown?

Are the heaters at the rear of the tube glowing a faint orange? Do you have high voltage at the anode?

          M,
          It may not be broken.
Look for the trace trigger and sweep controls.
Set them for a slow trace such as .1 second / CM
Set the 'trigger' pots to center
Set the sweep controls for auto or free run

Now turn the display brightness up to full.
Can you see a bright spot either high or low moving across the screen?

Set the vert position so that the trace is centered.

If the above 'fixes it' be sure to turn the brightness down.

          Report back.
