    recapped AOpen AK77-600 Max

    Hi,

Just gonna say a big thanks to you guys. From the info on this site I was able to repair my AOpen AK77-600 Max board. It worked for 4 years then developed random crashes.

I checked the board and all the 2200uf KZG caps in the CPU VRM had failed. I replaced them with Panasonic FC's and prime95 has been running for 12 hours now with no problem and vcore is rock stable.

As an interesting aside, the mobo manual devotes 2 pages to these caps, describing them as:

"The quality of low ESR capacitor (Low Equivalent Series Resistance) during high frequency operation is very important for the stability of CPU power. The idea of where to put these capacitors is another know-how that requires experience and detail calculation."

In their defense, UCC KZG's should have been good, but UCC made a few mistakes on them.

The problem with KZG is just that they don't like getting hot, so if they're located near the CPU they often fail. Also, Panny FC aren't a recommended replacement for KZG. If you're going to use Panasonic, use FJ series, although I suppose if it works, it works.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

The FJ's (and FL's) sound great, so do Sanyo's, but sourcing them is a problem. Most appear to be old stock/overstock buyouts from manufacturers. Ebay is a resource, but they're all coming from China suppliers.

Ruby's & Samxon are available right from Badcaps.net. Nichicon HZ's from Mouser. Panny FM's (not a first choice in VRM's, but certainly better than FC) from Digikey.

            Recapped BP6 and HPT366 issue
            by browny1978
So I'm an owner of a BP6 and it was in fantastic condition, with none of the original capacitors showing any signs of failure. But one day a year or so back, it failed to Post, after working fine just a few hours earlier.

So I did the usual, swapped all the components etc. etc. to no avail. So I boxed it up and thought I'd deal with it another day.

About a month back i recapped the board with Rubycon caps all of the ratings as per this site, but still to no avail. No post.

So I bought some SST BIOS chips that were of similar spec to the winbond one...

Wise Wing F199 19'' LCD monitor - recapped
            by momaka
Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...

Recapped PowerMac 8100 PSU and now unstable
            by LaPorta
            Hello everyone,

This is my first thread, and I am new here. I am part of the 68kMLA forum, and I was referred over here by one of the members there who is a member here as well.

I have a power supply from a Power Mac 8100 (Delta Electronics, Model # DPS-225AB Rev: A0, Apple Part Number 614-0040). It worked fine prior but, being close to thirty years old, it was time to recap. I have done a lot of capacitor replacement, but am by no means an expert at all. I looked up the replacement parts and ordered on Mouser. All electrolytics were replaced with same capacitance...
