The first 40 pages are free at

The guy who wrote the book has a website at

    http://jestineyong.com/

From what I can tell, he is geniune and he does know this stuff pretty good.

I started by reading back to Jan 1, 2010 most/all the threads here and paying particular attention to the gurus who took the time to explain things in detail. Then I bookmarked it whether I understood it or not. As each day passed, I reread some of them and now things are starting to make sense.

The hardest one is still the sense circuitry one. This is the one you are facing with the Daytek.

In my opinion, you won't learn anything that you can't learn here for free.

Just my luck it get cut off at the power supply section. After reading that first bit, I think I'm gonna have to order that when $ allows. I'm about at the point now where I want to call this monitor and a golf club into my office for a 3 way meeting

I suggest recycling it properly or posting it on kijiji/craigslist. Others may be able to use the parts.

It's a decent book. Jestine knows his stuff, and while his English would make my grade 9 English teacher have a heart attack, he's easy to understand.

I agree with Wrog, you can learn everything here, if you read enough threads.

I'd say send the monitor to me, but it's probably not worth the shipping....

Nah I'm not really gonna do it. I spent this much time working on it I'm hellbent on getting it going now. Ive already got tools on order for it.

Good to hear! It's addictive though.

I had e-cycled a bunch of 17" monitors from work. Then a co-worker asked me about his 19" I told him to buy a new one, but give me his old one and I'll take a crack at fixing it, then he can go dual monitors if it works (we all have 2 or 3 monitors here)

I fixed it, then put the word out locally that I wanted some more.
I've now done 9 successfully, 1 that had a bad MCU, and one I gave up on, which was probably also a bad MCU. I find it a nice rewarding hobby.

Dell monitor PSU vs Dell laptop PSU
                  by keepread
                  Hi there!
Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs. They are of the same 19.5V, and the wattage of the laptop PSU is higher than that which the monitor is rated for. Visually, the socket on the monitor seems compatible, and the plug plugs...

                  AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
                  by wattage
                  Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

                  Hi Everyone

Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.

The monitor will randomly blackout and display no signal and will recover again.

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
                  by Rick_1234
                  Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Wise Wing F199 19'' LCD monitor - recapped
                  by momaka
Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...
