    PN50C550 vertical colored lines

Is this as bad as it looks like?

Anything I can test? The lines are on top of the menu too...

I assume you mean the driver ICs on the the flatcables going from X-board to the panel?

Yes not fixable as they are bonded to the panel.

What does it take to repair this?

Isn't this stuff similar to what they sell here? :http://www.iccfl.com/product_info.php?products_id=18483

            Re: PN50C550 vertical colored lines

I guess the "not fixable" isn't the answer you want. You can try some thermal pads "pressuring" on the bond area to see if some pressuring changes / helps the problem.

The issue with trying to replace the bonded flex cable is that the alignment is a significant factor along with the bonding such that "field replacement" is not "practical". Of course, you have to find the exact replacement flex tab cables.
Since you likely have a bad panel and nothing to loose other than some time and maybe a "dollar or two", do your own "experiment"... who knows you might be successful. I am sure you will be a "forum hero" thereafter and everyone will be extremely interested in your achievement since this type of failure (flex tab issue) kills a lot of panels.

I think I'll jump in here. I agree with paulstef. I'm going to try replacing a tab ribbon cable bond with one from a set with a broken screen.

I dont thinks that possible not on the vertical hight drivers. I however have been able to do it on the horizontal tabs well I repaired the traces in it.

                  Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                  by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

LG 47LV5500-UA Vertical Colored Lines/Alignment Issue
                  by Superluminal
Hi all, looking for some input on this one. I've been reading the forums for quite some time but this is my first time posting for help.

                  10 years old
                  20,000+ hours on it.

Watching TV on it last week and right while I was watching the image suddenly started experiencing the symptoms in pics. Rainbow chromatic vertical lines and alignment issues. The issue is uniform across the entire panel. It does not come and go, the symptoms are stable.

Here is what I've tried so far:
                  - Factory reset and cycle of picture options....

                  by gpo23
                  Hello,

                  i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :

I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

                  Thank you for your help

Colored Vertical lines on Samsung UN55C6400RF TV
                  by Maverick1234
                  Hi,
I have a Samsung 55inch TV (UN55C6400RF). It has started showing colored vertical lines. I have opened the TV and the power board had one pin (out1-) which is discolored (Model # bn44-00358b). Can this be bad or is it the T-Con board (Model # D03464E0J09B6012066). Any recommendations on diagnosing the issue?

                  Thanks,
                  Sanjay

Thanks for offering your assistance with this. I'm an electronics enthusiast with moderate level of competence (have a decent lab with two power supplies, microscope, DSO, hot air, good iron, can competently work at a component level on SMDs, design and solder own PCBs etc). I really enjoying fixing things and learning new stuff so took up a free 58" LED TV and have been googling and watching Youtube videos to see if I can fix this! I am happy to go down to individual component replacement/strip replacement etc - it's all in the name of learning.

The issues are as follows: the...
