Dell 3008wfp Cycling Colors - No Input Screen

After replacing the D22 diode, the Blue LED power light comes on but the screen is cycling thru the 'test' or 'burn-in' colors. The input screen does not come on, whether hooked up to a computer or not...

Have tried all sorts of button combinations in trying to reach the Menu or reset the OSD with no luck.

Is there any way to do a complete reset via one of the boards?

I have repaired many Dell 3008's and 2 of them had that problem. I was able to get in touch by email with a tech at Dell; and he explained that particular color cycling is known as "burn-in mode". He gave me the only 2 methods that might be able to fix that. I'll copy and paste them from that email.

*****Method 1*****

* Turn off the monitor
* Press and hold in the Menu button, Plus button, and then the Power button. Let up on all three buttons
* Press the Minus button
* Once into the Factory Menu, press the Minus button to move down to Burnin Mode
* Press the Menu button
* Press the Minus button to toggle to Off
* Press the Menu button
* Press the Plus button to move up to Exit Menu
* Press the Menu button

*****Method 2*****

* Switch the monitor off
* Disconnect all monitor cabling from the PC (VGA, DVI, HDMI, DP, USB, etc.)
* Disconnect the monitor power cord from the rear of the monitor
* Press and hold the monitor power button in for 5 seconds
* Reconnect the monitor power cord to the rear of the monitor and reconnect the monitor to the computer
* Switch the monitor on and then the computer
* If the issue still persist, it is defective

Have tried various button combinations today - unplugging, replugging, holding power button 30 seconds, whistling Dixie, etcetera but nothing is working.

Is there any way to reset the board? The buttons don't seem to be working. I even read of some people 'blindly' pushing the menu button until some menu came on - have tried many combos...

So is my monitor toast?

To be honest. I was never able to "snap the mainboard out of burn-in mode" either. One came awful close with the 2nd method. Then it went back into color cycling. Seems to be some sort of EEPROM corruption. I wish I knew of a method to short some pins on the EEPROM chip and see if it would reset it. If you find one; please let me know because I have 2 mainboards here that could use that.

Have you replaced any mainboards on this model - are they available somewhere, and would that solve the issue?

Lumerjack777 - do you think shorting pins 3 and 6 on the 3008wfp might work? Can you point out where the EEPROM chip is located on the 3008wfp main board?

The method used in the link is a paperclip - what do you think of that?

Hey Steny. I was hoping somebody might chime in that knew for sure. I doubt its the same pins as that Dell latitude. And I never really looked for the eeprom chip to be honest. I ended up using 2 mainboards from monitors with cracked lcd's. I was hoping someday some superior knowledge would come along, and I could recover them. Anyways, we have plenty of extra parts for those. Just send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. As far as trying various pins to short out. That's totally up to you. But I would caution against it. Unless you plan on tossing the board anyway!

He ended up getting a main board from a Dell 3008 with a cracked lcd screen.
He emailed me and told me it worked perfectly. We couldn't locate one anywhere. Only could pull one from another Dell 3008. I've seen a few of those on Ebay for $75 to $150 with broken lcd screen.

Thanks for information ! Well - it seems to me that this way is quick and real(. I'd like to know official Dell info about this problem and price to fix it, but afraid that it will more expencive than to find change on Ebay. In my case there is also dead vertical line of blue - it is defenetly matrix deffect, though it's dissapeared after 30 min of working.
If this deffect will be more popular probably some one will find some chip way to fix it.
If i had repear manual for this monitor i'd try to do some but google does't give it to me(

There's one right there. Cracked lcd screen. Just what you need for parts. Both the main board and the power board will fit. I can tell that the main board is good by the colors you see in the cracked screen. If that's $150 with free shipping to Russia. That's a pretty good deal.

use a BIOS Programmer and copy the good eeprom and attach it here maybe some can use it to rewrite his.(from the good/working monitor)

so im having the same issue with my monitor. so if the reset button path wont work do i need to replace the main board too?

This is for those who have colour cycling issue (Burn-in Mode) with the Dell 3008wfp after replacing Diode 22.

Symptoms:
1. Screen power up then go into burn-in mode
2. No response to any of the inputs
3. Can not get into factory manual via buttons (Menu/+/Power)

Here are the steps to fix this problem
1. Have everything connected i.e. Power to the monitor and source cable to the PC (I use DVI)
2. Turn on your PC
3. Power on the monitor by hold down "Menu" "Plus" then press "Power" (This step may not be needed)
4. Keep pressing the source button multiple times (More like spamming it)
5. You should able to select different source modes, choose the mode that is connected (In my case DVI-1)
6. At this point you should see your screen working with PC signals
7. The burn-in mode should automatically cancelled and the monitor will also go into power saving mode (power button turn into amber instead of blue) if monitor detect no signal
