Asus TUF LED monitor VG27AQ power cycling
My asus LED monitor VG27AQ is power cycling. I see backlight come on, displays logo and then shuts off and repeats.
When I power it on, it draws ~200mA (@19V) before turning on the backlight. It jumps to 1.6A for a few seconds then Im guessing the processor goes to standby as it drops to a trickle (8mA). Each of the coils have voltage on them, none are short to ground. The diodes on the small board (LED driver?) look good. Im not seeing any significant hot spots under a thermal. All that really lights up is the two nearby coils labeled 2R2 when the draw ramps up to 1.6A, then off....4 Photos

Re: CCFL wire insulator breaking down
turns out at least 3 of the CCFL bulbs are toast. Fixing the cable is the least of my problems. Buying CCFLs online seems expensive. How to people normally replace these? Ditch the monitor? Pull from a donor? Thanks all for the responses.

Re: CCFL wire insulator breaking down
I probably could do that, Ive done similar work in the past and I have the heat shrink tubing. Is the tubing much of an insulator though? Ive always used it as a more professional looking ziptie....

HANNS-G HH251 2 seconds to black problem
Im troubleshooting the above monitor for a 2 second to black issue. Upon inspection of the power board, there were no obvious signs of bad caps but I replaced all of them anyway (except the 400v 120uF filter). Im attempting to determine if the problem is coming from a bad ccfl, inverter or something else. Ive tested all fuses on the power board and the IC206 which I thought was a transistor but after pulling the datasheet it appears to be a programmable shunt regulator? Im not familiar with how to test this.
Ive read up on how to test for a bad CCFL but Im not sure I really understand...

Re: Samsung 226bw dead. No power
Just a quick update. After reconnecting the button board the LED started lighting up again.
So I slapped it back together and sure enough it seems to be working fine.
No idea what happened here but I'll take credit for it and drink a beer
Thanks for the help (mostly indirectly by helping other people). In the end Ive gained a much better understanding of SMPS design from this experience. Great site, Im sure I'll be back.

Re: Samsung 226bw dead. No power
Ok here it goes.
The story starts a couple years ago when my 226bw would not display anything. The blue light came on but just flashed. At the time it was within warranty so I shipped it in and it came back working, citing the power supply at the problem.
Fast forward to today. After having absolutely no issues with the monitor since, it flatlines on me. This time there is absolutely no indication of power. No blue light, no backlights, no display.
So I popped it open (pleasantly surprised at how easy...

Re: Samsung 226bw dead. No power
Hey all, Looks like some really good information in this thread. Unfortunately I am embarking on my own 226BW repair today. Would it be beneficial to use this thread since the previous two cases are resolved, or should I start a separate one?
