    General Capacitors to Stock...

So I live in Alaska, and having things shipped to me each time I need them isn't exactly the most effective or economical way to do things. Instead I'd rather have some caps in stock just in case I need to replace a onesy twosy. I've often gotten systems in that use like 2 caps on the entire motherboard that are completely different from others and they are the ones that show the bulging signs. Replacing them often brings a board back from the dead.

So I was curious if the veterans among you have a list of common capacitor sizes you recommend keeping around the shop that are often used on boards. I've noticed too that the diameter isn't nearly as important as some places make it out to be, i've never had issues with room (with the exception of this PSU i've been working on).

My own personal note is that 6.3v/1000uF are very common, having a good 50+ of these probably wouldn't hurt. Any other sizes that are very common... say 10v/1500-1800uF?

Id like to have enough of the right caps where I can not worry about having to order out for more but once in a blue moon.

P.S...... also there are lots of brands on the badcaps.net store, I realize that they try to only carry high quality brands (i've used both Rubycon and Samxon) but for instance on the 6.3v/1000uF ones, there are about 10 different choices, some look to be identical short of their model "number". I'm assuming some of those are higher end with a longer expected life, any insight into which to choose? these are mostly used on motherboards, perhaps the occasional LCD....

    Thanks Guys

    Re: General Capacitors to Stock...

In monitors, I see most of the times 470uf, 820uf, 1000 or 1200uF ... 25-35v (even though the psu is 5v or at best 12v)

For computers, I would think 16v (for 12v coming into the boards) and 6.3/10v for 5v or lower areas would be the most common. 820 to 1500 seem to be common values for capacitors on motherboards.

I've stocked on Panasonic FM/FR and Nichicon HM/HN.

          Add 2200uF 6.3v, 1800uF 6.3v, and 1500uF 6.3v for motherboard stuff.

yeah i've seen a bunch of 1800 6.3's on input vrm, and a few 1500-1800 16v's too, but not as often, but...often enough

Need some 16v caps for mobos.
For screens it's best to go with 35v [works for both 25v and 35v].

You also have to have some uF/volts combos in different diameters.

If you don't work on the same thing all the time you could easily have 50 to 100 sizes stocked and -still- not have everything that comes up covered.
[I know this because I stock that many sizes.]

Not sure why you think you have a problem anyway.
I've bought stuff from Alaska several times [5? 6? maybe] and it usually gets here in 4 days +/-1 via USPS. [Priority mail or not.]
Shipping to Alaska takes about the same.

Frankly, because of Customs, it takes much longer to get things to/from Canada than it does to/from Alaska.

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
                by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

After updating motherboard capacitors, what to do next (Asrock K7VT2, SOLTEK SL-75FRN2L)
                by dragon3x
Hi, I have some 32 bits computer motherboards that need repair, as they fail to
                power on.

                Here are some examples :

(N.B. "capacitors" indicated here are electrolytic capacitors located in the onboard
                switching supply area).
                (N.B. #2 : I could not find a 3300 microF aluminum-polymer with a higher voltage
                than 6.3 V.)

1 - Motherboard #1 : this is an Asrock K7VT2 (socket A) that still works well. To put it on test
                I replaced capacitors with aluminum-polymer.
                3300 microF/6.3 V. x 4 replaced by 3300 microF/6.3 V. (KYOCERA...

Need real mobo dump of BIOS v402 for ASUS PRIME Z590-A - stock image no help
                by DynaxSC
                Hi,

I have a serious problem to program the Z590 chipset SRAM with a Management Engine after replacing the chipset.
The new chipset is factory new and is not containing any Management Engine. Any attempts to program it into the chipset under Windows ends with a failure (eg. Error 20: Management Engine Device not present, or something similar).
Due to the lack of the ME several ports on the board, including all M.2 ports aren't working, booting OS works only on USB. So it's now other way, as to program the chipset with a ME.

Usually on ASUS boards it worked...

Are there any datasheets available for Elna RJG capacitors?
                by Ady2017
I have a 2007-era Panasonic VHS combo that is full of of Elna RJG capacitors. I am trying to test the capacitors to diagnose the machine and then select replacement capacitors but I can not find any datasheets for them. I did find a Elna catalogue from 2007-2008 but there is no mention of this capacitor series. Where these specially made for Panasonic and so not made available to the public? Any ideas what to find out what the ESR values should be without the datasheets? They are all between 10V and 50V and 47uF and 1800uF. None are leaking or bulged but I know that they need to be tested to be...

                Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
                by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...
