  • Re: Samsung LN52A550P3F - No Backlighting

Well... I feel stupid. I cracked back open the panel to take some pictures with my DSLR and lo and behold I noticed that I forgot to plug in the cable from the inverter to the mainboard, so it was never sending the signal to light up the backlights :P.

So this TV fix was simply replacing 2 capacitors that were blown with new Rubycon ones, the set works flawlessly now. Didn't cost me anything since I had those capacitors laying around. Free TV for the win.

Thanks guys, I guess I can delete the pictures of my screw...

I'll start with post 19. I just wanted to note that I'm not getting anything on screen for any amount of time. The back-lighting doesn't even attempt to come on at all.

I've got a brand new (used twice, trying to figure all of its features out) Klien MM2000

Which pictures are you wanting to see, let me know and I'll snap some shots for you. Thanks for the reply

  • Samsung LN52A550P3F - No Backlighting

So, I've got a friend who had this TV die on him and instead of paying to have it repaired, he bought a new TV and held onto it. Enter me... I stop by to say Hi one day and he asked if I'd like to take it and try to repair it, and that I can have it /shrug. Why the hell not, I repair computers every day.

So the symptoms were that when he goes to turn it on, it clicks and then clicks again turning off. I instantly said "Power Supply", which he was told was an expensive fix, hence buying a new TV instead. Knowing that a PSU on these things is just a series or easy to get to...

  • General Capacitors to Stock...

So I live in Alaska, and having things shipped to me each time I need them isn't exactly the most effective or economical way to do things. Instead I'd rather have some caps in stock just in case I need to replace a onesy twosy. I've often gotten systems in that use like 2 caps on the entire motherboard that are completely different from others and they are the ones that show the bulging signs. Replacing them often brings a board back from the dead.

So I was curious if the veterans among you have a list of common capacitor sizes you recommend keeping around the shop that are often...

  • APC Back-UPS NS (1250) Loud Hissing

So as I posted on my intro to the forums, I'm a computer tech. And as a tech I come across LOTS of used/damaged items being given to me. In the past month I've had to replace 3 APC Back-UPS NS 1250's. They have all served well over there 3-4 year life span and these models aren't made anymore. Usually the batteries get to a point where they have to be "Reconditioned" or replaced. As of late, the batteries cost nearly as much as the units brand new!

I figured out of 3 units, I should be able to figure out how to fix them and Frankenstein them together. 2 of them hiss very...

  • Re: Asus eeePC netbook

    Asus Eee PC 1000HA
Input is a 12v 3A, 36w power supply that comes with it (just incase)

And I meant a status light on the netbook itself... although I'm starting to second guess that there was one at all. Pretend I never mentioned it , just in case I'm wrong. Would hate to send us on a wild goose chase.

Like I said this used to be my little brother's netbook and he loved it. He has been looking for a new one but doesn't want to spend the cash and can't find one similar. Plus he is over in the desert (military)...

  • Asus eeePC netbook

I've got a little netbook that is in pieces. It was my brothers and he put that thing through quite some hell during its 3 or so years of abuse.

It currently is a no boot no power solution. I don't believe it to be the power brick as I'm able to receive the status lights when its plugged in. I have done plenty of recapping, but these small kind of boards aren't quite the same thing as a full desktop motherboard. Any insight on how to determine the issue I may be experiencing. I've never troubleshot anything component level other than capacitors.

I do have a Blue ESR...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hey guys! I've been reading these forums for assistance with my recapping needs for some time now. I've finally decided to register to learn more as well as contribute.

My name is Klaus, I like in Fairbanks Alaska. I currently am self employed as a computer tech, I've got a few solid client/businesses around town. I've been doing this for a little over 2 years under my own business but have been "Teching" since I was 13. Have been professionally doing it for over 5 years now.

    I've recapped...

  • Antec SP-400 + Teapo = Junk

Well, first I have to say that this is the first time I have ever posted in these forums. I've been referring to badcaps for some time now and have even ordered a decent number of caps (which so far I've been very happy with).

I guess im like Hugo Stiglitz... My status as a CAP killer is still amateur... I came here to find out if I could go pro!

So far under my belt I've recapped well over 20 Dell SX280's and a few 270's. Also recapped a horrible All-In-One brand's motherboards called Cybernet. I've recently jumped into new space like 2 Dell 172FPb monitors and now,...
