    ESR meter circuit

    Hello

    Here is an 555 ESR meter circuit I just got working:

    Actually it is not a meter in itself but a converter for multimeter.
    It can measure ESR from 1 ohm to about 0.01 ohms or so.

      I added analog panel meter to it, so it don't need multimeter anymore.

      As you can see from the photo, it still needs some little finishing like a pcb or a case...

        I can't quite understand what IC1B does - it appears to be over-riding the feedback around IC1A..

        Also, the user is expected to peel off the protective plastic film from the display on multimeters, or it becomes all bubbled and gooey....
        It is a good shrubbery. I like the laurels particularly...

          Oops, sorry. It is a drawing mistake, that is because I first build the meter and then afterwards drew the schematic...
          IC1B just buffers the potentiometer for zero adjust.

          No, no, you remove it when it has too much scratches on it and then... TADAA you have like a new display again
          But indeed it starts to be that time because of those bubles.
          On mobile phones those films are much better. They last two or three years before the films needs to be removed and never any bubling.

            This is very true. It should not be left there for many years because then it's very hard to remove the film and its glue.
            It is a good shrubbery. I like the laurels particularly...

              Finally got enought time to draw a PCB for the meter and to put it into a box.
              I used a TSH22 opamp but it needs a pulldown resistor to make IC1B go under 150 mV

                  I'm trying to fix this Canopus converter so that I can convert lots of old VHS cassettes. The problem is that it turns on for a split (and I mean split!) second, the fan jerks and then.. nothing. I've checked the power brick works. I've opened up the converter itself and been testing for shorts.



                  The image attached shows the on/off switch (which I've checked works) to the left of the yellow socket. Below the yellow socket is a green block marked 26 with a strange symbol at the front. Putting my probes either end of this block, on the silver parts, gives an open short...

                  Hello. Which tool is better for in-circuit testing of e-caps? I was thinking about getting proper LCR meter like DER DE5000 but as i have seen more accurate are ESR meters like ESR70 from Peak if we are measuring in-circuit. Is that true?
                  Sometimes ESR can not be accurate when in-circuit but still want to get the best tool for it.

                  I was working on this machine yesterday and I now going to use an incandescent lights instead of a fuses to figure out what the issue is with it blowing control voltage rail but this not the only issue the coolant pump failed the meager test as well as the main motor as well this motor has 12 motor wire leads instead of the normal 9 wires

                  This metal lathe has a weird motor setup it has a soft start motor with a “Y” and a delta type of motor winding setup and it is not done in the motor pucker head enclosure it is with four different contactors wired in a configuration I have not...

                  Hello.
                  I have seen a short circuit tester made with 3 * 9V batteries, a voltage limiter component and a resistor connected to the probes of a multimeter.
                  The theory is that the meter becomes sensitive enough to read very low resistances and the lowest resistance to ground on a circuit is likely to be a short circuit in that area.
