Samsung ue40d6510 no sound black screen

    Power supply tested and working.

Motherboard I am quite sure it works as when I push the menu button backlight gets brighter.

I have removed the tcon board and sound a short on a tantalum capacitor.

Can anyone tell me if the capacitor is gone or the transistor is the culprit?

    Thanks.

So the SMD 5A fuse is blown and replaced with jumper wire? If the fuse was blown, then yes, you do have problem on the T-CON board.
Remove the suspected bad part and measure the parts off the board to see it they still show as shorted circuit.
BTW, those 3 caps look to be connected in parallel, so check the pads on the board after the caps are removed to see if it will show low resistance.

The smd 5a fuse where? On the tcon? Aye I have jumper wired it.

Low resistance? Do you suspect trace damage?

Do you think the transistor might be faulty? Usually a tantalum shorts when there is a bad transistor.

Tantalum usually failed short by itself.
BTW, which transistor? Why don't you just remove the caps?

I have removed the cap and it is completely dead. I also noticed a short between the board pads as you suggested.

What am I gonna do with that?

So the removed caps tested as shorts and also the the resistance between the two pads for the caps also shows as shorts? If that is the case, you have more work to do to trace out the circuits.

I have measured the transistor showed on picture. It gives a short on on of the two pads. I suspected this since the beginning. Transistor always short other components.

                      What do you think?

Always remove the suspected bad part and make the test off the board.
BTW, the silkscreen shows it as IC50xx so that does not look to be Transistor, the silkscreen for Transistor on that board is shown as Qxx.
Are the traces from the caps connected to that IC directly?

Aye, it looks like they are on the same trace.

                            by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                            by Audeze
I have a 2019 75" x950g, and while playing a movie, the screen suddenly went dark in a weird way, where it faded towards one corner into being fully black. Now the TV turns on, and the backlight comes on, but there is nothing displayed except black. Sound still comes through the TV speakers, and i have tried doing a hard reset using the volume - and power buttons while plugging the display back in, but it did not fix it. I can confirm that pressing buttons on my remote is still doing "something" because I'm hearing sound still, even though the screen is black.

I have a problem with my LG Smart 43UF640V TV. It starts, the backlight comes on but nothing is displayed on the screen and there is no sound.
I thought it was a TCon problem and ran various tests. If I disconnect one or the other of the cables from the tcon to the panel then the screen is white on the side where the cable is disconnected and black on the other side. If the two cables are disconnected the screen is completely black.

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
