    Unidentifiable

Sorry for posting in the wrong section

can someone help in identifying this transistor type thing, it has no markings on it or on the pcb from where it came, its fried (short on all pins)..
came from a NOKIA AC-4E charger

idk either. i fried one trying to add a heatsink (in a mad catz 3v car adapter)... they overheat quite often...

        Re: Unidentifiable

My guess is a voltage regulator since it came from a charger. Without a pic of the circuit or any markings there is no way to say for sure.

likely any npn power transistor will do.
              its a crude simple switcher.

                Any recommendation?

The charger is rated as 5v/890mA

Um. I don't think a new charger would cost much...?

Remembered the design like in ultrasonic circuit just one transistor and oscillator using R & C circuit in 60 Hz bursts in KHz range (around 30-50KHz). Use a NPN with strong voltage tolerance and high base voltage tolerance as well. Not too critical.

                      Cheers, Wizard

Open a similar charger up and see what they used.

I zoomed in on the photo on the solder side of the board and it looks as if pin #2 (center) has been partially lifted from the board.

it may be still usable or just remove the lifted part of the trace and run a wire.

[LA-J891P] Warm cpu on 19v rail injection, is it fried ?
                              by tamerelapute
                              Hi,
I'm learning electronics(already have some basics) by fixing a FH52M LA-J891P rev1B. It come from an acer nitro 5. The charger was defaulting upon pluging. The 19V rail resistance is 0ohm (I believe that caps screw my measurement). When i inject 5A, I get a rail tension of 1.3V, and 0.8V vcccore.
Except the cpu, I cant feel anything getting warmer.
I believe that it is normal, because the cpu is "eating" half the power I'm imputing.
I dont know if the cpu is fried, because I did not remove the big capacitor on vcccore.
I believe that if the cpu was fried,...

Hi guys, a friend of mine brought me a fried Garmin Striker plus 4 fishfinder with GPS (thanks to the boat tech who inverted the power cord at installing. I need help to identify this smd resistor look a like, it could be an inductor i think (no serigraphy) completely broken. And the tiny one could be a diode. Many thanx in advance!...

Good morning, I would appreciate help identifying resistors responsible probably for volume down / volume up buttons that I accidently knocked off while replacing fan connector. I enclose picture with location. Thank you for help in advance.

While installing new SSD's in my new to me Dell 5520 laptop, I dropped a screw which sparked and fried a capacitor. Yes, I know I should have disconnecte the battery first Doh!😡. The laptop runs fine, but I want to replace the capacitor asap. I ordered and received the replacement (10uF, 25V 0603). Since I also managed to burn up one of the pads it was soldered to, my main question is whether it is okay to solder this capacitor on top of another capacitor (same size, same function in circuit). Specifically, PC4428 is bad and no way to easily solder to the board. I would like to solder it piggy...
