[Not the regulators for power, I think it's for Vtt.]

What Rat is rattling on about is the cheesy fix Asus [and a few others] came up with to avoid having to fix Intel's mistake on their production boards.
    - Except that it doesn't have a damned thing to do with the BIOS.

With all the trouble I'm having, I remember why I switched to AMD after upgrading from my Pentium 166...

Socket 775 is nice in some ways, but I don't think I've ever seen anything so hit and miss.

I'm going to play around with it this weekend and see what I find. This is all getting really discouraging though.

Got it to POST with all 4 gigs installed, after updating the BIOS and replacing the faulty test CPU I was using. I should have tossed that chip after the first time it flaked out on me.

Now I just have to wait for the real CPU to come in, and I can get on with the project.

no it's not, that prefix is a 32bit athlon board using a via chipset.
i'v got one - i suspect it's more to do with the capacitance of the tracks between the sockets.

The Athlon boards use the same reference design in so far as the RAM regulators go.
In fact AMD basically plagiarizes Intel's reference designs in a lot of areas.
          VRM, PSU Guidelines, AGP VR.
          - Don't believe me, go look up a few.

No, it's not the capacitance in the traces.
          Good idea,, but not it.

I'll see if I can find one of those long drawn out explanations if I have time tomorrow.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

MSI PRO B660M-G DDR4 - real bios dump from board needed (no stock bios)
            by DynaxSC
Hi, I have an MSI PRO B660M-G DDR4 board with damaged BIOS and i need a bios dump from a real board, along with MAC, UUID and Serial Number info (eg. a BIOS screenshot and pictures from the board stickers).

I need to reconstruct the bios on my board, based on another bios image form a real board - meaning a bios image containing MAC address, UUID and Serial number. A stock BIOS is not suffiecient, as it is impossible to discover where the MAC, UUID and SerialNumber are stored. Tried with a similar board, but there are too much differences, and the stock BIOS is missing a lot of...

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
            by Asraf Atb
            Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
            by Hakuu
            Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

            More Details

            TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...
