does anybody know the value/ polarity of the tantualm (i cant spell tonight) cap right next to the cpu socket? its on the side facing the i/o plate.

it got crushed a long time ago. it still ran but i assume i better fix that if i plan to use it again.

post a pic anyway.might tell us what it does.most tants and mlcc near the socket are on vcore.probably run ok without it.clear off the remains in case it is shorted.

its right on the socket... crushed when i used a socket a fan with a 3-hole clip... there is like .5 mm between it and the socket. it did run without it. ill clean it off... it will say hi to a lin-lin soon.

Post a pic - for location.

I have a CUV4X-C rev. 1.02 which has more electrolytics around the socket, but nothing like a Tantalum

But seeing it doesn't even have empty an position for an ISA slot, it's probably quite a different PCB assembly

I think you'd be in a minority hating a CUSL2, perhaps one of Asus's last trustworthy products

If it's what i'm looking at, that's not a cap, it's a diode. looks like a flyback diode for the CPU VRM.. I've got a CUV4X-E right in front of me, and the only thing even remotely that close to the CPU socket on that side is D4, which is connected across Q6, a MOSFET in the CPU VRM. The part number on the one here is PJ13 on the top line, and SS12 on the bottom line..

edit, the pic was only to show position, that is not my board model. i screwed op.

and yes, gg1978, that is the board you sold me.

                                          Hello,

I have a problem with the bios, let me explain.

With BIOS 1, the pc takes +- 30 seconds to display the ASUS logo (black screen) and to boot.

I did a clear ME, my black screen problem for 30 seconds at boot is solved, it gives me directly the display and boots quickly.

My problem is that now, once the charger is plugged in and I put a slight load on the processor, it bogs down to 0.39GHz...
The only solution is to unplug the charger to get the cpu back up to speed. But as soon as I plug in the charger, it goes straight back down....

I replaced the keyboard and the ITE KBC chip and the problem is still the same. I don't see any passive elements that look damaged. Does anyone have an idea?
