    my board went kaput!

At least it seems that my board is the problem. Im new to bad caps and found this site after realizing what might be the problem with my computer failing to start properly.

Upon examining my comp thinking it was a graphix card issue my friend and I realized that a capacitor near the cards was literally gone. All that was left was the mangled stilts. After more inspection there was a second one near my processor gone as well.

I do believe they were of the same kind after analysing the board for similarities. I in no way know about curcuitry on this level but I thought maybe replace capacitor = solved problem, Im willing to try.

My board is a ASUS M2N-SLI. The capacitors lost resemble the Pantasonic FJ although they read 105c FJS from the looks of it. Not sure if the S goes for Short since theyre the smaller of the black and gold.

My question is if this is fixable, do I have to replace all of the boards capacitors ( ...like is it advisable or necessary?? ) or just the 2 blown??

post pics of bad caps please

if the caps are FAKE, then you will need to replace all of them, period. make sure computer cooling is all functional.

FJS is a valid variant of the FJ. I don't know if the S stand for Short or Small, but they are smaller, yes.

If the caps have literally exploded off the board, there might be other problems with the board or PSU.

Thanks!! Ill try and post pics tomorrow.

Also, my board has had high usage for about 2 years. My computer would run without shut down for a exceeding amount. Basically a more than average wear and tear. Would that play a part in a good cap biting the dust too soon?

Not unless the system is poorly cooled.
If temp goes up by 10c cap life goes down by 1/2. [For each 10c.]
