Are those Canon ObjectStations I see in the last pic?

Also, are you sure you can't just slip three DDR sticks and a 3200+ off in the mail. By the looks of your pile, nobody would notice them vanish.
    Find Nedry!

    Check the Vending machines!!

        Hi, Uranium235
How do you choose which systems get dismantled for parts and which systems get refurbished? Judging by the impressive amounts of parts, it would seem parts are easier to sell. Are they?

Hw does one tell what drive to drill holes in and which ones to write zeros to?

Here I use the following rule: Less than 20GB..... magnet extraction followed by "fun" ways of destroying the data. (frisbee anyone?)

Broken drive or funky nose while wiping: Same fate.

Some small drives may be spared the screwdriver and torch if they are fast.... I keep fast SCSI drives as small as 9GB.

            My rule on refurbs:

Can it be readily sold as a whole? (is it useful for Web 2.0 at least?)
            Is the mobo good?
Do I have a LEGIT Windows 2000 or later key?
            Does it look reasonably good?

If all four criteria are met.... and it passes my 24 hour burn in it gets a 90 day warranty and is put up for sale.

If the case looks not too scratched up...if its over 700mhz. past that, it depends on who'se doing it. If its our lead tech, if he can't get it to boot on first try, he sometimes just trashes it. If its our new tech, then he usually tries to replace/ram/cpu/video or whatever. Sometime he spends a day on a single computer. I try to get these guys to balance how much time they spend on stuff (is it worth your time?). Our lead spends too less time, the new tech spends too much. I don't do refurbs, only components testing

parts are harder to sell, we've just NOW gotten some motherboards in the store

We have valid Dell/Gateway/HP/Compaq XP Home/Pro recovery CD's. If the system originally had XP on it, these CD's will get the key from the bios and activate them. (yes, its legit). Try them on any other computer, and it won't work

we have no burn in period. and only a 30 day warranty

Heh, I couldn't have worked at a place like that. The drill sergeant guy would have kicked my butt out for attempting to "save" way too much hardware

That or after I took a disposable camera flash unit, hooked it up to a random computer case instead of a flash, and then asked him to push the metal button on said case. "oh, and be sure you stand on this anti-static mat while you do that" ....

If you took a place like that + relaxed work environment + high pay = hardware junky wet dream.

Unfortunately like you seem to have experienced, most "salvage" places like that with a sweet source for equipment always seem to be low/non paying except for the possible guy who founded and milks/is forced to run the place.

regardless, that place is awesome. And that sucks they "couldn't" hire you. Ugh I'm sure they could have made back in monitors and just overall loyalty to the place by hiring you, but they never look at it that way.

                              Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Yes, I know I don't post this stuff much anymore....the only reason I'm posting this one is because of a NVMe adapter incompatibility; seems rather planned by Supermicro.....or I'm atleast a bit suspicious. It's plenty new enough to have a UEFI bios but a short 'happy list' of NVMe controllers that will work with this board, as if by some 'miracle', all Intel....so lets start at the beginning; we'll get back to this later.

Of course the motherboard is as the thread title states; X10dai....but we'lre going to have some fun shoehorning this into a modern 'gamer case' that can actually...

my question is: why doesnt the board start know without this chip.... worked myself through the boardview but i can´t understand...

                              Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP00 - Datasheet needed
                              by Toueno
                              Hello,

My Dyson Pure Hot+Cool, model HP00, no longer starts.

After disassembling and accessing the electronic motherboard, I found that the 16A fuse soldered to the motherboard is dead. I decided to do an electronic shunt to see the reaction, and the Dyson turns on for a few seconds and then turns off.

It is likely that a voltage control chip or a safety chip is dead, but without the electrical schematics, the repair becomes complicated…

Thank you in advance for your help.

                              Best regards
