The place i work at also does data recovery. We have had many completely failed drives where the SMART system did not report anything wrong. This is common in drives that have been hit or dropped.

With today's high-capacity drives you never use the whole surface all the time, so if you drop your laptop and the HDD in it has a minor head crash, sometimes that will happen in an area where old data is stored. You will only know about it when you try to access that portion of data again...

Dell Pro 13 Plus PB13250 Bios Unlock
      by Akhlz001
      Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...

Dell 5565 Not Booting Windows Installer
      by liquidzorch
Hello. I have a Dell 5565 with a few symptoms, one of wich is that it will not boot into windows 10 install usb. It will show the windows logo for about 1 second, then reboot itself. It does this with and without a hdd or ssd connected. I have tried multiple known working windows install usbs.

I also noticed that the ram slot A does not work at all. Only ram slot B. I have tested various ram modules and all do the exact same thing (not work in A, and in B never enter the windows installation.

I have tried to use the f12 menu to update bios (just in case), but it ends...
