Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.
My computer doubles as a space heater.
Permanently Retired Systems:
RIP Advantech UNO-3072LA (2008-2021) - Decommissioned and taken out of service permanently due to lack of software support for it. Not very likely to ever be recommissioned again.
Asus Q550LF (Old main laptop, 2014-2022) - Decommissioned and stripped due to a myriad of problems, the main battery bloating being the final nail in the coffin.

2000hrs endurance on those taepos, planned obsolescence at its finest
is 0.085mOhms to 0.056mOhms too much difference? although 750 to 950ma is ok. This isn't a pc power supply. FC is closer but only 3000hrs for this one, as where the FR is 6000.

About 2 times a year, a customer will do this. We fix the tv, put it on test play, and customer sees it working. They see me pull power and video wire. Sometimes I pick up tv, right in front of them, and carry it out to their vehicle while they are next to me. I set it in their tv gently, and tell them the tv is very fragile, be careful with it. I let them close the door/trunk. That day, or a few days later, they tell me there is a crack inside the tv. Normally I tell them transportation is their responsibility and normally that is the end of it. Has anyone had a customer that was not buying this... -
When the customer brought the device, only the charging port was broken. The charging port was replaced, and the PR114 33-ohm resistor, which transmits the psid voltage, broke. However, the device then gave a low-wattage warning and reduced performance with the original 130W charger. When I tried it with another customer's 240W charger, the warning disappeared, and the device functioned properly.
I opened the original charger and checked the internal ID IC. There was no problem. Then, just to be sure, I ordered the 330W DS2501 IC. When it arrived, I tried it again, and the warning... -

I'm trying to diagnose this board with no power.
The board was originally brought in for water damage. Corrosion was not very bad and the board was successfully repaired by a quick ultrasonic cleaning. All corrosion was very surface level and no solder repair was needed at all. No oxidized components can be seen. Customer took the laptop home and it worked fine until it was brought back for warranty. Customer was watching youtube when it suddenly shut down. Customer says last time she tried turning it on it would turn on after a very long while but gave some... -
The customer gave me this for changing the old battery, and then I replaced the new battery. always showing this message. I changed many chargers and programmed the new BIOS as well. Does someone have any idea for this message?

Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".
It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...07-31-2025, 08:37 PM
