Oh, and the hinge movement doesn't feel stiff either.... it feels quite normal and smooth as per usual.
I once had a Texas Instruments TM6030 laptop and the hinges on it became stiffer and stiffer until it locked up and then cracked the plastics. Before it locked up though, it made very very loud creaking noises on opening and closing the screen.

drop few weight 30 oil on the hinge joints, on mechanical to wick oil into there since can't use grease as it had to be there during assembly process.

In any rate, don't let it presist!! Get oil on there asap!

Done that and the noise is still there. I put as much oil as I could onto the joints and then twisted the hinge to rub it in. Re-Installed the hinges and that noise is still there.

I've just noticed that this creaking noise is intermittent and only exists when I put the screen more than half way (say more than 90 degrees to the chassis), if it's less then 90 degrees.... meaning a bit tilted forwards towards the keyboard, the noise doesn't exist. Only happens when screen is tilted more than 90 degrees backwards from keyboard, say 120 degrees to the chassis.... strangely enough even oil won't solve the problem. But as I said, the creaking noise is very small and only happens in the first few mm of closing, after that it's silent.

I finally figured out what made the noise today. The plastics from the hinge cover and the screen surrounding were scraping against each other as they were going up and down, which is what produced the noise. There was also like a piece of minute plastic poking out of the screen cover scraping against the hinge cover so I got a small flat head screw driver and poked it so that's solved now.
Unscrewed the rear section of the hinge cover and lifted it up just a tad and the problem went away.
