A couple Dell servers that don't post...

I have a Dell Poweredge 1300SC and a 300SC, neither of which will POST. No beep, nothing. Tried swapping PSU, ram, CPU to no avail. Are there any known issues with these? I don't think they are worth fixing though. I've seen the whole system on Ebay for $9.99 buy it now

Don't have a port 80 card, do you?? They can be very helpful with no POST issues like this..

Nope, I really need to get one. Any recommended models/places to buy? I know MCM has some.

I bought mine at either best Buy or Compusa about 4 years ago.. It was around $25... It's a Soyo one that has the 7 segment displays on both sides of the card, and has LED indicators for some of the voltages present on the motherboard..

This sounds like something that I should get. A quick Google search comes up with a half dozen cards. The most common is by StarTech:
          http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815158065

I can't find the SOYO one offered by anyone but SOYO themselves:
          http://www.soyousa.com/products/proddesc.php?id=261
          http://shop.soyousa.com/customer/pro...336&cat=&page=

The biggest complaint about the StarTech, is that the readout is facing down (in a tower). It looks like the SOYO has a detached readout.

Thanks for the info. I managed to get both of them working

The 1300 board started coming to life after I removed it from the case and replaced the dead CMOS battery. I then discovered that it would give me a beep code with no RAM installed, but nothing when I had RAM in the slots. Turns out it didn't like the registered ram, and it worked fine with standard PC100 ECC. The cool thing about this system is it looks nearly new, like they had problems with it early on. The others looked like this:

The 300, I don't know why but it just started working out of nowhere.

I'm pretty sure I know why that one stopped working. It looks like some clumsy 'paper-certified warrior' spilled his Pepsi inside!
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.
Why I don't buy cheap cases!

It's actually all dust... nothing was spilled in it. But it's the nasty nicotine type dust because it came out of a strip club
                  .

The one in the pic is one of the working ones. The dead one was clean as a whistle...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                    by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

                    Dell 3100 Chromebook Power issues
                    by JKetcham
Hello, wanting to see if anyone has any experience with Dell 3100 Chromebook's and might have some input on an issue I've been seeing with them.

I work in Technology for a good size school district, and we've began to switch away from Lenovo Chromebooks over to Dell 3100. I like the Dell 3100's because they seem to be more durable than the Lenovo N22's, N23's and 100e's we've used in the past.. but my main complaint with them is they randomly won't turn on.

Currently, in my building I have about 200 students using the Dell 3100's and daily I have a rash of students...

                    Dell XPS 15 7590 - Part 2 - USB power issues
                    by coputerdiscount
So back on my first post I had a water damaged Dell XPS 7590 which I was able to repair:
Dell XPS 15 7590 - Powers via USB-C but not AC (missing PS_ID?) - Badcaps

Which leans me into a new problem I wanted to start a new thread with.

This machine now has issues powering or taking power (usb-c/lightning) via its USB ports.

Symptoms: When a dock is attached, it tends to short out devices attached and does not function, when using a USB A port elsewhere on the laptop, they notify windows of a surge and tend to power cycle the attached device.

                    Dell 7280 Power Issues (LA-E122P)
                    by reid
Hi, this is my first new thread and I am hoping to get some assistance troubleshooting a Dell Latitude 7280 (LA-E122P). I have fixed a few MacBook logic boards before, but I'm not familiar with Dell boards or schematics, so I don't really know what things are important to know or check first.

When I first got the laptop, it would not turn on. I'd plug it in and press the power button, the power LED would come on for a second and then turn off and the laptop wouldn't do anything. This was fixed by flashing the UC5 EEPROM, so I don't think there was any hardware issues when I first...
