    shot of a geforce 4 mx440 backside

the things in red are what broke off, anywhere i can buy transistors or w/e those things are and replace them back on? or is that too intricate work to be d one?

    C=Capacitor and R=Resistor

You will need to know the values of the old parts too though

And the solder pads looks damaged

i guess thats from that lot of cards. it does look like 1 or 2 have ripped the pads off.

what you should do is assess the damages to the whole lot of cards, basically deciding what can be repaired reasonably easy and what willl be difficult or impossible. then you can use some cards as donors for components.

it would be possible to add smt caps or resistors like the ones broken off using hand soldering. it will be a little fiddly but not impossible. however if the solder pads are ripped off then might be impossible.

how would i go about removing and soldering such tiny components? would i still be able to use .8mm 60/40?

also, would a 1.6mm chisel soldering tip work?

i think you would be ok with that. be careful of too much heating of ceramic caps though, they dont like that.

When it comes to holding stuff like that in place I put a tiny (VERY TINY) amount of super glue on the end of a pin and hold the tip to the part until the super glue sets.
Then you can hold the part in place while it is soldered back.
After that you just twist the pin and the pin breaks free from the now reconnected part. Get an iron with a very good tip. If not, get a replacement tip for your iron and grind it down until it is a very pointy tip.

you can measure capacitance with the right equipment but voltage no. it is necessary to assume the max voltage in the circuit. really the best way is to use a donor card for the components using something about the same size.

Apple NVIDIA AGP GeForce 6800 GT Dual Link DVI+DVI outputs 603-6338 missing caps!
                            by jpreza
                            Hi everyone,

I recently acquired this card from a seller who was selling a PowerMac G5 for parts. He mentioned that the video card was probably broken too.

Upon closer inspection, I can tell the reason why it won't work: it's missing a bunch of CAPS! (it's also missing an inductor - 1.0uH).

It's a nice card as it's one of the few AGP cards that will support 2560 x 1600 resolution on a PowerMac G5 using a 30" Cinema Display.

Looking at the card, it appears to be missing the following:

                            1x 1.0uH inductor - orange square
                            2x...

                            by jossbnr34
Hi, recently acquired a second-hand MSI Geforce RTX 3060 Ti Twin Fan 8G LHR graphics card. After spending two days trying everything and going crazy because my PC didn't detect it, and the fans weren't spinning, I couldn't figure out where the problem was. Yesterday, I found that some capacitors were missing, and some were broken. I imagine it might have been due to a fall or something like that. I'm trying to find a diagram of my card to see what type of capacitors it uses and their voltage to attempt a repair if possible. I'm new to this, but I have done some simpler soldering repairs on video...
