    Re: Glossy or Matte LCD?

I haven't seen too many CRTs that were so bad they aren't usable, except those that were so worn out that they're about to be tossed anyway. The shadow masks that went out of focus or get really dim, or those trinitrons that are simply worn out (black areas get too bright)... time for replacement.

I suppose some people are bothered by persistence and refresh rate, that's a different story. I do recall the old IBM 8514s that had interlaced... Sometimes the jitter gets you...

hp 840 g4 need help with system hardware configuration
      by hewlettpainful
Hey guys I need some direction here, a recent upgrade is not going as smoothly as planned. So I got an 840 g4. It shipped with a matte HD panel that looked like trash. I replaced it with a complete glossy HD display assembly that is also a touchscreen. The new display assembly has an additional connector on the display cable, this connector mates to a previously unused female connector on my motherboard. The cable says something about LCD touch so I am thinking it's the correct cabling for touchscreen to my main board.

After connecting the new display the picture works perfectly...

      Glossy vs Matte TV Screen
      by fredrock46
I just want to know what TV specification indicates if the screen has a glossy or matte fimish?
I have a Vizio 42" TV with a matte finish and my sister has a similar 42" Vizio with a glossy finish. I like hers much better. I'm buying a new TV now and want I it to have a glossy finish but I don't know what specification to look for.

Having trouble getting Flexbv to work to view openboarddata files
      by Thefixinator
Hey guys, I'm feeling like a noob trying to get flexbv to work to be able to download and view a particular board view of a mac mini 2018. Ive tried to read how to use the open board data but it's appearing to be a little confusing on how to actually look up a particular boardview. I'm using the free version to get my feet wet with the software. Ive checked to make sure under the program preferences the openboarddata.org is in the right spot which appeared to be there by default but im not able to open up and board preference to search for a specific board view. I'm probably confused on how it...

      Allied AL-8400BTX - freebie
      by Dan81
Some of you might have known I got a mysterious package comprised of three motherboards and two PSUs. One of the PSUs was this Allied AL-8400BTX, and the other was a very old 230W Sun Pro. (worth nothing, seriously )

As I had some free time in my hands, and after failing at fixing my K7VZA motherboard (I'll start up a thread about this later - maybe some of you can chime in and tell me what to do at this point), I said why not give this PSU a shot. After all, it has a 6 pin PCI-E connector.

So, first inspection revealed the usual stuff - bad caps - one bulging...

      Backlight Reflector Modification
      by x_orange90_x
I am writing this because I came looking for the same information but couldn't find anything. There are certain model tvs that will have 2 or more different backlight strip configurations and there is often no way to tell exactly what you have without disassembling the panel. Twice now I have run into this issue and ended up ordering the wrong sets BOTH times. The previous TV I reordered the correct ones and went on my way. The second one I had no patience for returns or reorders, let alone peeling the brand new strips back out and risk damaging them.

The number of LEDs per pair is...
