• Black Screen on Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200 Laptop

My laptop won't start. When I press the power button it goes directly to a black screen.
The LEDs light up, the fan spins for a moment but that's it. I have tried all the usual suspects: An external monitor, Factory reset (Zero + Power), R&R battery, Power button hold reset. No help.

I hear a faint ticking noise (definitely not the Hard Drive) coming from where the power cable plugs in.
It starts when I press the power button and stops when I press it again. I have it disassembled as shown in the screenshot. The first arrow shows the power socket. The second one...

• Re: Samsung SyncMaster T2600HD is dimming

Corrected Model Name: Samsung T260HD
It's an LCD Monitor/HDTV. It has a built-in digital TV tuner which I have never used.

I bought this Monitor 6 years ago and it has been on almost every day since.
It's specs are still equal to or better than most on the market now or I wouldn't bother with it.

It shut off on it's own a month ago and I fixed it with a used main board from Ebay.
It functions fine now but the screen is too dimm. I'm just trying to understand what causes that. I heard mention...

• Samsung SyncMaster T2600HD is dimming

My Samsung SyncMaster T2600HD Monitor is dimming. It's not nearly as bright as it once was. Is there a component that might be responsible for that or is it screen?
I have tried the Monitor settings without success. Many of which are greyed out for some reason. The Nvidia Control Panel settings help a little but it's still way too dark. Appreciate any thoughts.

• I fixed the Vizio SV42XVT but now...

I fixed this TV and now I want to put the rear cover back on. I'm afraid to unplug it though because doing so is what caused the problem in the first place. Is there anything I should do before unplugging it to make sure the EEPROM doesn't lose it's information again?
I replaced the main board as you suggested and then paired the remote but I didn't reset it to factory defaults or anything. It's working fine now though and I don't want to screw it up by unplugging it. I'm probably being overly cautious but I want to check with you anyway. Appreciate any suggestions.

• Set factory defaults VIZIO SV422XVT

I finally have my TV powering on again. I bought the main board used so although the TV now comes on I can only see a "No Signal" message. How do I access the setup app. It comes up automatically on a new Vizio TV but this board is used. The user manual gives a good desription of the setup app but nothing about forcing it to come on. Likewise for resetting Factory defaults. It describes how to reset them but only from the on-screen help menu which I can't get to. Anyone know how to do this?

• Glossy vs Matte TV Screen

I just want to know what TV specification indicates if the screen has a glossy or matte fimish?
I have a Vizio 42" TV with a matte finish and my sister has a similar 42" Vizio with a glossy finish. I like hers much better. I'm buying a new TV now and want I it to have a glossy finish but I don't know what specification to look for.

• Re: I bought a new main board for this VIZIO SV422XVT...

Ok, thank you. I started a return to the seller on Ebay. I'll ask them to exchange it for another new board and try again. If they agree I'll post back with new install results.

• I bought a new main board for this VIZIO SV422XVT...

I have had the problem with this TV where the Vizio logo flashes orange/white and the TV won't turn on. So I bought a new Main Board for it.
I installed it but the TV still won't come on. The logo isn't flashing anymore. It just stays orange.
Is there something I might be missing about this? Is there something I must reset or some procedure I should follow to installl the board correctly?
Does it matter that I don't have a coaxial cable hooked up? Could be that the TV is 240Hz and so less common? All of the numbers on this new board are identical to the old one. With one exception....

• Resetting the eeprom on the main board

I came accross this article about resetting the eeprom on the main board by connecting a wire accross two pins on the eeprom and then powering on the TV.
The article is for Samsung TV's and I'm wondering if it might work on this Vizio SV422XVT TV that I can't find parts for.
I'll quote the item I'm interested in below and attach a link to the full article.

"For resetting TV, settings, you needed to remove SoC EEPROM device from TV. But it's not required. In electronic world, if you disable communication of the chip, it counts as removed...
To do this,...

• Re: Which Multimeter to test Vizio sv422xvt

Thank you for checking for the part on ShopJimmy and getting back to me.
They don't have the main board in stock either. I put an alert on that but I can't find any listing for the eeprom. eBay doesn't show an eeprom repair kit for it either.
Would you be able to identify the eeprom on the main board picture I've attached here. I thought I might be able to see a part number on it with a magnifying glass if I knew it's location.
Also, are there places you can send a board to have it diagnosed and repaired?
Oh...

• Which Multimeter to test Vizio sv422xvt

I'm trying to fix my Vizio SV422XVT TV. It won't turn on. The logo just flashes orange/white. From the posts I've read it seems the problem is most likely the main board. Could you recommend a multimeter I could buy? The cheapest I could get away with as I will seldom use it. Could you also point me to a tutorial for using it?
If it turns out the problem is the eeprom will I be able to replace that on this TV? Thank you in advance.

• Vizio TV won't turn on

I'm having a problem with my VIZIO SV422XVT 42-Inch Series 240Hz TV.
Whenever it is unplugged or looses power it won't turn back on. The Vizio logo flashes orange/white and the power button is unresponceive. There are no visable problems on either side of the boards or any swollen caps.
I've tried the power button reset which worked once but never again. I continued trying to turn it on periodically by unpluging and replugging and that too worked a couple times. I have replaced the power board on a guess. That didn't help but for some reason I was able to turn the TV on about...

• Re: VIZIO SV422XVT TV won't turn on.

I was about to do like you said with the power board and thought I'd try plugging it in again first. To my amazement it came on and is working fine now. I don't dare unplug it so I can put the rear panel back on though. If I leave the cover off will that cause a problem?
Thank you for the information about the fuse too. I didn't realize that the Vizio logo lighting up was an indication the fuse was not blown....

• VIZIO SV422XVT TV won't turn on.

After a brief power outage my TV won't turn on. The power comes on and the Vizio logo flashes orange/white but the TV is non responsive. I powered cycled it and that worked so I bought a UPC just in case the power goes out again. When I plugged the TV into it the same problem occured only this time power cycling had no effect.
I bought a Vizio 0500-0407-0910 used Power Supply and installed it and that seemed to fix it. So I unplugged it to put the rear cover and stand back on. when I plugged it in the same problem recurred. So apparently unplugging the TV is what causes the problem. Which...

• Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

I'm an older guy and I'm not quite sure of what is expected here. I want to ask a hardware question and I'm assuming I must first post something here.
