    Gigabyte GA-6VTXE RPM fan monitor

    Hi all,
    In a Gigabyte GA-6VTXE recapped and where the CPUfan header had a transistor burnt (replaced), the RPM fan monitor (CPUfan and SYSfan) don't work at all.
    I think there is something wrong in the MOBO, there is anyone that know where is the RPM sensor or the circuitry for that device?

      Hi Dylant.

      well, the fan header i believe is controlled by the I/O chip.... im not sure though. But one thing i do know is that the CPU temperature controller is a black thing under the CPU itself on some boards. The RPM is controlled in the BIOS depending on CPU temperature.
      I had a person bring a PC to me the other day with an issue where the CPU fan would go nuts at times, sometimes at a cold temp it would go fast and directly opposite when hot, sometimes it went normal.... and that was on a recent GA-8iPE1000-G motherboard.

      How did the transistor get burnt anyway? was there a fan over-current? are there burnt traces anywhere?

      Is the fan working now? or is the fan still dead?

      I believe that not all those programs work on all boards for example my Gigabyte GA-6VXE7+ board doesnt have any fan control software that will work with it.

          Well, this is always integrated into the super IQ chip. Normaly some ITE or the like chips. I would not see this as an easy fix, unmles the problem is on the outer circuitry.

              Yeah, my chip is an ITE its a mid sized one near the PCI ports i guess.

                  Hi there!
                  Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
                  The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
                  Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs. They are of the same 19.5V, and the wattage of the laptop PSU is higher than that which the monitor is rated for. Visually, the socket on the monitor seems compatible, and the plug plugs...

                  Hello Badcaps Community,

                  I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

                  The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

                  Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.

                  Good evening, gentlemen.

                  I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

                  To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.
