Yeah Furmark pushes them pretty hard. Were the fans actually at 100% or were they lower? I've seen some stupid video cards that even when getting up to 90C+ only went to 80-90% fan speed

Furmark pushes a GPU to it's absolute limits. What cooler is on the card? I use to have an 8600GT with the dinky stock cooler. Heated up like crazy. Put on a big ol' cooler and it never got over 40C after that.

decided to furmark it... and when the GPU's got to 100C, I killed furmark.

    Uh oh...

When I redid the heatsinks, I used this for the GPU die:

I take it that's not good enough... What is suggested to fix this?

9.9? Why can't Microsoft just give a score out of 10 like everyone else?

I have two Intel 520 Series 120GB SSDs in RAID0 on my computer which basically gives me a gig of throughput Gets an 8.2 in WEI. Everything else (CPU, Graphics, RAM, etc) get 8.1 which is funny.

Correct. Moved them, we're dual channel now.

I happen to own both a 15K SAS drive (rebranded IBM eServer) and a corsair neutron.
The 15K SAS ousts the SSD in multiple random read/writes. The problem with SSDs is that they are only good at either writing or reading ONE thing at a time.

My stupid daughtercard LSI logic controller went haywire (no more 15K SAS), so I went SSD for the time being. I think I'll just get a proper adaptec PCIe controller.

--> keep in mind though, the 15K SAS drive sounds like a cement grinder on steroids (it's a fresh fairly new drive too, they're just inherently noisy). So if you don't like that type of sound, SSD is definitely the way to go for quiet computing.
(if anyone wants a sound sample I can gladly provide that).

10k plus drives might get higher, not sure though.

How to build this little device please for my campervan security
    by iotaa
    Hi,

You will probably find this funny, and it is, but it's also a project I'd like to take seriously.
I have a campervan and I'd like to avoid thieves to break in it when I am inside it or not.
For this purpose I imagined a simple device that can play a sound based on a vibration detection (in case of intrusion attempt) or by pushing a button manually.

The sound wil be a growling dog, which will deter any thief, thinking there is a big dog inside the van
This sound can be manually triggered by me if I'm inside the van, or played automatically...

    by sam_sam_sam
I have bought this Zener Diode for this project what size and wattage resistor value do I need to use to get near 50 watt output
I bought this from an eBay seller but unfortunately they only had one

I bought three from Vetco Electronics these are Sylvania ECG5185A 9.1@10w A to Stud what size and watt resistor do I need to use to get near 10 watt output
I bought three of from them to also make battery packs with this output power limit in mind

I want to use this battery pack and turn it into a 9.1 output battery pack output to eliminate using 9 volt battery...
