My beef with the computrt parts is I can get stuff online WAY cheaper than the CompUSA or Best Buy type of stuff without a distributor and make money selling it at their prices. As far as electronic supplies, we mostly just have RS. If you need components in a hurry, or are a hobbyist who doesn't know what you need until the last minute, your screwed. I love shopping online as much as the next guy, but a lot of times I need it NOW, not 1-6 days for UPS.

      Oh, geez.

I used to be able to pick up all kinds of things there. Now it's just a dumping ground for rebadged electronic Chinese crap. I actually had to spend almost 15 minutes explaining the difference between SPDT and DPDT switches to the guy behind the counter!

I know I would love to have a place that had used computer components, soldering supplies, electronic repair components, testing tools and someone who knew what they were doing all in one, but how many other people?
Dude, you can find quality help if you give it a bit of time. The Fry's at Indianpolis is staffed by n00b's who know absolutely nothing. It is overstaffed to say the least. Yea, you do have the hot girls up front, but the older staff don't know enough about their stuff. The nice thing is, you can wander around in the huge store, scoping out the deals. They have a huge inventory. The staff are not nosy, nor do they try to sell me stuff I do not need.

I hink the store has an agreement with the local council to provide X number of jobs in return for concessions. So, they just go ahead and hire any n00b, his brother or his dog. This is not a bad thing as people are getting jobs, but why can't the store train them?

Another big gripe of mine is, why won't the store let the salespeople actually play with the equipment they are selling? I know for a fact that a Best Buy in the Rockvill-Gaithsburg, MD area does something similar. It is staffed by kids who actually use the stuff (probably higher quality stuff) they sell.
