I just killed my everex xt5300t.

It had 8600M GS cpu chipset and I oc'd it to 725 core 485 mem, it overheated and died because of the nvidia underfill issue.

    oops!

But I was playing tribes on it and ran great until the laptop powered off.

Now when I power it on, it turns off after a few seconds and nothing is displayed on the screen.

    Oh well.

    Another one bites the dust.

Might also be a BGA issue... you could try reflowing... But if it is an 86xx, not worth it.

I know of a place here in orlando that will replace the chip with a new one for $150.

I'd get a new one if its that much. One not prone to bumpgate.

Yeah, I was going to a lan party and I was preparing the laptop, needed some tweaking. But I pushed it to far and it died of heat stroke.

Panasonic TH-50PX80 killed by lightning strike, help me save her!
              by SluggerB
Yes it's a 17 year old Panasonic plasma!

I was watching TV when there was a huge lighting strike nearby my house that shook the house. When that happened, the picture on the TV froze and the TV wouldn't turn off except by pulling the power cable. Now if you plug in the TV, it seems to turn on (it makes the turn on "clikcs" it always does, the red power light comes on but there is no picture, although I can see the back light around the edges. And the TV doesn't respond to the power button on the remote to turn off, and doesn't respond to the manual power button on the front...

Accidental slip of the hand caused a spark on Capacitor. Is my PANEL killed in action?
              by Axis937
Hi folks, newbie here. My intention on a working monitor was to test for voltages on the various pins. Somewhere near the ribbon to the monitor, there we 2 caps. One was reading around 5V and the other was maybe about 12 or 14V . Cant really recall. Then it happened. The multimeter kissed the 5v cap and the other cap. Spark appeared. NOW... the part where the spark happened ( Caps near the Last ribbon cable ) is now totally white. 1/6 part of the screen is white. From my little understanding , i came to learn that there are transistors inside the TFT panel. Could that be a issue then? I have removed...

              Hi all, First post here
Decided to up my game in electronics repair, and bought this dead notebook as learning material. The guy had already sold the screen assembly and ssd, I got the rest very cheap. Told me that he left it charging, and a power surge killed the non original USB C charger in use, and the note.

Schematics seem to be non existent, only sites I`ve found with reference to this model are just trying to serve me malware.

Been probing arround to reverse engineer the board, and made some progress:

              - USB PD controller chip (TI TPS65994...

              killed my bios chip?
              by agswireless
              long story short,
I read the chip on ch341 and tired to figure out how to remove the bios password and couldn't but I wrote the bin back and now it doesn't boot, I get a white light on the power button for about 10sec then turns off.
I tried to trouble shoot and Measure the bios chip.
              pin1 has 3v
              pin 8 VCC shows 1.5-1.8v
did I kill the chip? on the datasheet says pin8 +3v power supply

I killed my VC04 Pro and need help

Was trying to find a short on my motherboard and it started to smell. I left it alone and now the display always shows 4.095 like there's a constant short. Took it apart and something that was toast to the point that I don't know what it was. I assume resistor since it says R28 next to it. Anyone know what this resistor value is suppose to be? Has anyone else ran into this issue with this tool? Still says 4.095 even though I removed the resistor.
