    Re: RANT: DVD decoders

would nero 9 ultra have a decoder? the drive came with that.

maybe it did have a decoder then... I heard nero burning software was trash and thus I never installed it. Perhaps the disc that came with the drive had a decoder after all?

      Re: RANT: DVD decoders

Nero 9 ultra should have it... but it installs tons of crapware. It USED to be very good. I can vouch for K-Lite and Media Player classic. Use it for lots of stuff besides mpeg2. I've never had to use windows media player.

Strangely, it didn't run any better on a 1.2GHZ processor than it did on a 333MHz CPU.
2D acceleration also factors into this. If you had a crappy video card in those boxes that could have caused problems.

You have to choose the appropriate renderer in MPC too. I.E Overlay/DirectX/EVR. On top of that usually something else does the actual decoding for MPC, in my case its FFDshow.

K-Lite works. General incompetence of the users installing it is effecting the "failure rate", I bet. Every new machine I build goes out the door with this codec pack as well.

Agree. Never any issue with K-Lite for many years.

VLC and Media Player Classic also work well.

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
            by AK_777
            Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...
