    Stress test on bootable USB?

I've been enjoying the new USB version of Memtest-86+, and I'm curious if there are any programs out there that allow CPU stress testing on a bootable USB as well.

Reason being, I'd like to be able to test boards and CPU's without having to connect any drives, or install them in a case. Are there any good programs out there that can do that? What would make it even more awesome, would be the ability to monitor temperatures during testing.

    Ahh yes there is.

I used bartpe and added the plugins that I wanted. You can customize it to your needs and add pretty much what you want.

I used cpuz,prime95,everest and so on to stress test and measure temperature.
After you have build barepe bootcd you can use Hp's free usb boot tool to transfer it to your usb key.

That looks neat! Do you think it work on different boards, without having driver issues?

BartPE doesn't do multi-core CPUs (at least I don't think it does), so I'm not sure prime95 or similar would fully stress all cores.

You will have to add drivers for what you want yourself. I added chipset, mass storage and network drivers and used it on all pc at work with completely different hardware.

          Drivers - http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.p...pic=19551&st=0
          - http://driverpacks.net/docs/Miscella...e-bartpe-guide

If you are having driver issues those forums will know how to solve it for sure.

Normally only one core will be used but you can add support for several cores, I remember some plugin or script was made to do so.

I kept my bootcd as small as possible for fast boot and low memory usage.
Added cpuz,prime95,super pi,avast virus cleaner, winrar, ghost, orthos, nero, mcafee stinger, firefox, irfanview, norton, acronis dd and so on.
This was what I needed to remove viruses/worms, save mail backup, pictures, make hdd images over network and so on.

          Couldn't do without it.

hey, ive used memtest86+ from a usb stick for a while....

the easiest way i can think of for having this is to create an usb stick of the UBCD they include the instructions (really easy to follow) and in a few secs you got your bootable usb stick with the whole ubcd in it, it includes mtest86+

            http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/customize.html

i guess i do it for the same reason you have, to test boards with no drives attached (i test the boards with only the neccesary -sic- devices, this being said it gets down to only the psu, keyb and monitor)

i havent been on a lot lately hope this isnt a dead thread lol

dont know about the temp thing you ask thou
