        Its the Intel D975XBX (i975x)
        supports Crossfire and SLI
should be out this or next month

Please note the abundance of Nichicons on the board. And especially please note the HM(M) series with new sleeve colors? (i am not sure about this, i recall the HN(M) were black/orange but i cant remember the HM(M)

I have HM(M) on ASUS board, pre SARS, overfill, etc. Thay look just like that. Looking at the spec sheets, previous problems aside, they look like one of Nichicons best caps.

thats good to know. how old is your board now?

                  That board still isn't released?
nope. you can have a 955x now. good to wait a few revisions anyway until the board is nice. not be the first to buy.

i have heard they will try hard to break into the enthusiast market this time, although we have heard that all before.

apart from the nichicon caps, it is nice to see the board is not BTX...

yeah. BTX was destined to be a dead end from te time of its inception.

and the vrm heatsinks look like they are aiming at the gamer crowd.

HM, HN, and one even newer series are probably the lowest Z and ?the highest ripple current rating? (I don't remember), but their rated life is only 2000 hours. The 10000-hour-rated HE series may well have a longer life.

Just a reminder, the "(M)" in "HM(M)" or "HN(M)" simply means that the tolerance of the part is +/-20%. It's no biggie, but you can save yourselves some typing.

i am still drooling over this board. dual core would be nice but must be patient while the technology improves. at the moment a D955XBKLKR is going for 264 euro here. a little over what i paid for my D875 i guess the 975 will be similar. would be nice if they would lose some sata and put scsi 320 raid that would really be a workstation system worth getting. 955 has the same nb cooler kc8 pointed out but no heatsinks on the vrm fets. i think no 1394 also. and yeh for 250+ euro i could really use another ide.

If you want dualcore, buy Athlon64. It's much better. Except for the chipsets...

i have always been an intel fanboy and skipped chipsets where they screwed up so i have only nice memories. perhaps next year the intel solutions will bring converts. wait and see.

Now I'm officially impressed, not by the mainboard but by the quality of that picture!

Perfect focus over the whole mainboard, if only my Poor Konica KD-400Z could do that

But I guess that is a Canon EOS 350D system camera (or better) with a lens that cost more money than I make in one year!

See this picture, also amazing quality!

yes i was also floored by those pics. certainly they are professional shots therefore the camera would be something like a 1Ds mkII if not film, rather than a 350d. of course along with $$$ of studio lighting and in the hands of a pro.
