    Bad Idea - Adaptec 29160i

This is a "brainless" SCSI card. Look closely there is no Bios chip on the card. Had the misfortune to buy several of these, thinking low profile card, how nice.

These are used in some HP server, the design makes them instant landfill, unusable anywhere else

Re: Bad Idea - Adaptec 29160i

    1) It looks like there are two empty places there for chips to go in. My guess one of them is the cache and the other the BIOS. If you could get a hold of the correct part (It looks like a standard square bios chip you could salvage off a motherboard), you could flash it and solder it on. It's a lot easier than you think.
    2) A lot of motherboards had SCSI bios integrated into theirs for these type of cards. Though I never saw any with Adaptec, mostly LSI IIRC.

i think there are some other missing SMD parts... i wouldn't try that. OEM's like to do that... reminds me of dell dimensions w/o the floppy also missing the floppy caddy... strip it down until it fails, and replace the last part.

i thought ebay had cards with a brain cheap... i spent $12 for a 2 port 3ware hardware raid ATA133 card... perfect match for the fileserver conversion of a hp evo d530... well, that and a little mod to reroute the HDD light to the card... i came across a lot of old scsi cards with that port cheap... but not compact at all (they were monsters)

Maybe intended for use as a secondary to a primary 29160 family card, to support > 15 devices, and the primary provides BIOS

But no use on its own as a primary, as you've discovered

if you were running linux (this may be possible with windows as well), you could use a tiny drive for the bootloader and use that to boot the scsi.

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
            by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

Any idea what happened (wifi acted up)
            by evilkitty
            I have 2 access points, one a U6-LR and WZR-300HP running DD-WRT v3.0-r28444 (has had stable wifi since 2015)

and i am trying to work on my PICO W and it suddenly would not connect and my computer had a very hard time connecting and my dad had been complained about his phone connecting

so i ran a wifi scan script on the pico and it just hang for several seconds and found nothing, normally it would spit out every AP in under a second (both of mine and some neighbors)

What i did was just install a U6-Lite that i had not gotten around to installing to replace...

            by Mike_Ho
            Dear All

Anybody have experience to repair L13 Gen2 Board Number : LAR-2 PD charger problem?

I have one board the U4201 CSD87501L are burned and the 20V_VBUS_USB2 can't switch to 20V_VINT_IN, after replace this Mosfet it's still very HOT and just use few hours will burned again. i have repeat replace this Mosfet 3 times and all dead.

After that i try to shorted Mosfet Source 1 to Source 2 to bypass the 20V, and found the Control Gate 1 and Gate 2 voltage both are 20v same with 20V_VBUS_USB2.🤨

So did anybody know this case will need to replace...
